Help us hit $10,000 for 2027 scholarships before race day🏃 Link in bio.

Christie approved this post. We’re not sure she knew what “a few edits” meant.

Last year our CEO and Director of Impact ran the TCS Toronto Waterfront 5k with Team NYO, and all we have to show for it is a handful of photos. So we tweaked a little.

Every dollar raised by our runners goes straight to scholarships for young musicians heading to the 2027 season. Run with us, donate, or come find our alumni drumline cheering at Bay and Bloor on race morning.

Congratulations to Nicholas Denton Protsack, Composer-Cellist, featured on the cover of the October issue of La Scena Musicale!

Nicholas was selected for the SOCAN Foundation / NYO Canada Composer Mentorship Program in 2025, writing Across the Vaulted Night for our orchestra, which premiered on our 65th Anniversary tour.

Kaitlyn Chan's profile explores his practice of "musical ecopoiesis" and his question of whether concert music can exist in a reciprocal relationship with the natural world.

If you're an emerging Canadian composer aged 35 or under, this is your chance to write for a full orchestra of the country's top young musicians. The program includes a commission, mentorship from our Music Director, rehearsal time with the orchestra during our summer residency, and a premiere on our national tour, with travel and accommodation covered.

Applications close October 15: https://www.socanfoundation.ca/programs/emerging-composers-mentorship-program/

Thank you to SOCAN Foundation - Fondation SOCAN for making this partnership possible.

Happy World Teachers' Day! This year we're celebrating three new woodwind faculty joining NYO Canada in 2027: bassoonist Nadina Mackie, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Principal Bassoon Julia Lockhart and VSO Principal Clarinet Jeanette Jonquil.

Fifty years after her first NYO summer in 1977, Nadina returns to teach alongside her former student Julia, an NYO alum from 1996 and 1997.

Want to learn from them? Auditions are open to musicians aged 16 to 28, and the $50 early-bird fee ends October 7. Swipe to meet our new faculty, and apply at the link: https://nyoc.org/auditions/application/
