It's that time of year again! Share the New Year sweetness with your loved ones, and support a worthy cause all at the same time!

With most of our CYJ campers and staff home from a widely successful summer 2026, we are already looking forward to next summer. Each Rosh Hashanah Card purchased helps us ensure that no Jewish child is turned away from a CYJ summer camp or Israel program, as proceeds go directly to the CYJ Scholarship Fund.

Today, we explored what it means to choose hope through action. In Sderot, our Madrich Ofir welcomed us into his home, an urban kibbutz, where we learned from a community committed to building a brighter future.

At the Nova site, Nova survivor Shalev Biton shared his powerful story of survival, recounting how he fled Nova and was taken in by the extraordinary courage of Bedouin-Israeli Younes Alkarnawi, who risked his own life to protect 32 people hiding on his farm. His story is a powerful reminder that even in humanity’s darkest moments compassion and hope can prevail.

We also reconnected with Jaqui Vital, strengthening CYJ’s special relationship with her as she shared the legacy of her daughter, Avital, and the power of choosing hope every day.

Inspired by Viktor Frankl’s belief that, “Those who have a why to live can bear almost any how,” our participants left with a deeper understanding that hope is active and that each of us has the responsibility to turn our own why into action. RootOne Routes Travel Canadian Young Judaea

This Shabbat, we’re grateful for the moments that often go unnoticed.

The laughter that sneaks up on you. The shared smiles across the room. The conversations between destinations. The quiet reminders to pause, be present, and appreciate the people we’re sharing this journey with.

These moments will stay with us long after the summer!

Shabbat Shalom! 🇮🇱 🤍 🩵 💙 Canadian Young Judaea Routes Travel RootOne

Mount Herzl: A meaningful day of listening, learning, and remembering. 🕯️💙🇮🇱
Today, we visited Mount Herzl, where our Israeli guide and staff shared deeply personal stories of friends and family members who are buried there.

Each story reminds us that behind every headstone is a person, a son, daughter, sibling, parent, and friend. A life filled with dreams, relationships, and memories.

Seeing families visit their loved ones brought those stories even closer, showing us that remembrance is not only about history, it is about the people behind the names, the lives they lived, and the values they carry forward.

As we continue our journey, we reflect on the responsibility to remember and honour those who defended Israel, and those who continue to protect the State of Israel and the Jewish people today. We carry their stories with us. 🇮🇱 Routes Travel RootOne Canadian Young Judaea

Tomorrow, Biluim Israel 2026's Poland participants are taking to the skies! That means it's time to introduce the rest of our Tzevet, our Israeli Madrichim, who will meet our cohort in Tel Aviv in just a short week!

Slide 1: Hey! I’m Ofir, 24. I grew up in Sderot and just moved to Tel Aviv this year. I love hiking, bouldering, running, and basically any excuse to be outdoors, especially in the desert, which has always been my favorite view in Israel. I recently got back from an amazing trip of 1.5 years around the world, and I’m really excited to meet you all and explore Israel together!

Slide 2: I’m Tair Dayan, 24, from Reut. I was a Shinshinit in Toronto and I love music, arts & crafts, and lately I’ve been into circus arts. Can’t wait to meet everyone and have the most exciting summer ever!

Slide 3: Shalom from Tel Aviv! I am Alon, a musician and singer-songwriter who loves telling stories through music. After years of traveling the world, I'm pumped to be back exploring Israel this summer with all of you!
