Calling all legal professionals!

Nightwood Theatre is accepting submissions to audition for the 18th annual Lawyer Show! Nightwood Theatre, Canada's flagship feminist theatre company, is thrilled to announce this year’s production of 9 to 5, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton!

For almost two decades, Nightwood Theatre’s annual fundraiser, the Lawyer Show, has hosted hundreds of legal professionals as they venture on stage in support of local Toronto artists. Every year up to 40 members of the legal community rehearse for three months to stage an exhilarating, entertaining production, led by a team of professional directors, designers and vocal coaches. Cast members benefit from invaluable networking opportunities, all while putting on a truly spectacular show and supporting a professional non-profit theatre company dedicated to women and gender-expansive artists.

No previous acting experience is required – all are welcome!

Since the Lawyer Show’s inception in 2010, over 300 legal professionals have appeared in 17 shows in support of Nightwood. The 2026 Lawyer Show raised over $240,000, netting $100,000, directly funding a mainstage production in Nightwood Theatre's 2026-27 season.

FACL Ontario LEAD (Leadership, Excellence, Advancement and Development) has extended its application deadline to September 13! If you haven’t applied yet, don’t miss this chance!

FACL LEAD is a brand new program built to accelerate the next generation of leaders in Ontario’s Asian Canadian legal community.

Over the course of two weekends, fellows will learn how to:

1) Develop practical skills in influential communication, team building, storytelling, and authentic leadership.
2) Learn how to communicate who you are, what you bring to the table, and where you want your career to go.
3) And much more!
 
Applications are open to mid-level Asian Canadian lawyers who are full FACL Ontario members, with a preference for 4-7 years of experience. Space is limited to 16 spots, don’t miss your chance!

Over the weekend, the FACL Ontario Board came together for our annual Board Retreat, which was a chance to connect, reflect, and set our priorities for the year ahead.

We’re excited to introduce FACL Ontario LEAD (Leadership, Excellence, Advancement and Development), a brand new program built to accelerate the next generation of leaders in Ontario’s Asian Canadian legal community.

This past Wednesday, members of our FACL Ontario in-house lawyer community gathered for an evening of bubble tea and networking! 🧋

It was great to see so many members of the community come together, share experiences, and build connections. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening such a memorable one. We look forward to continuing to support our Asian in-house lawyer community at future In-House Lawyer Committee events!

The Conference & Gala Committee plans FACL Ontario’s marquee annual event, bringing together Asian Canadian legal professionals, students, and the wider community. Through engaging panels, workshops, networking, and celebrations, the committee creates an inclusive experience that highlights leadership, fosters connections, and showcases Asian excellence in the legal profession.

The Community Outreach Committee advances social justice and access to justice for racialized and pan-Asian Canadian communities. Through public legal education, community programs, and partnerships with like-minded organizations, the committee provides resources and support on topics such as employment, wills, social benefits, and more.

Our In-House Committee is hosting a Bubble Tea Social at the Sherrard Kuzz LLP: Proudly Canadian and we’d love for you to join us! 🧋

It will be a relaxed evening to connect and chat with fellow Asian in-house lawyers. Whether you’re a department of one or part of a larger legal team, come out to drink some bubble tea and eat some snacks with us!
