π¨ BIKERS... KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AT THE PUMPS! π¨
I've been seeing this all over social media lately. The claim is that some people are placing small objects or screws in certain gas pumps so the transaction may not properly end when you hang up the nozzle.
I'm not saying it's 100% true, and I've seen mixed reports on it, but it's definitely worth paying attention to.
ποΈ As riders, we're often more vulnerable because we're busy: β Putting on gloves
β Strapping down gear
β Getting our helmets on
β Getting back on the road
Before you leave the pump: β
Make sure the transaction has completely ended
β
Double-check the screen has reset
β
Watch for anything unusual around the nozzle holder
β
Keep an eye on your statements for charges that don't look right
Whether this specific scam is real or not, fuel theft and pump scams do happen, and it only takes a few seconds to protect yourself.
π Has anyone actually seen this in person or had extra charges show up after fueling? Let us know in the comments.
Let's keep our riding community informed and looking out for one another. ποΈπ₯
