We are thrilled to announce our upcoming banquet! We are celebrating not only our heart and passion that we put into this year’s group as we continue on a new journey together but also celebrate our mother’s who support us along the way.

We will have special performances by Planika & Mladi Glas Jrs & Srs and have some honorary speeches in-between our dinner services.

There will also be a raffle and the prizes are ones you’d want to take home!

👋 Let us introduce ourselves…

Our names are Emily Tratnik-Harnell and Millie Muhič-Dolenc and we are your new directors of MGP.

We started back in the dance group in 1995 in planika and were dancers up until we were able to. We worked hard to make our 2010 Slovenija tour happen and was worth every polka and waltz step along and we’re grateful to be apart of a generation that was nothing but passionate about dance, exploring our Slovenian roots and making our group the best it can be. After a few years of stepping away and creating our own lives, we now have our own children apart of the group and have come back to be apart of such an amazing community.

Last year in 2025 Bob, Diana, Nancy and Magda decided they needed to pass the legacy on after almost 35 years of teaching and directing the group into what it is today. With their passion and dedication they were able to bring MGP into its 50th year which is an amazing achievement for any Slovenian youth group in Canada. We thank you all for your hard work and dedication for doing that!

Both of us are very passionate about our Slovenian roots and heritage and want to keep our community together for the sake of our future generations. We want our own kids to have that sense of belonging to their heritage. So when we were asked to take on the group, we knew that we needed one another to help keep the direction strong in order to see the next 50 years or so with this group and community. We were nothing but honoured, but mostly thrilled to be chosen to carry on the legacy.

We are looking forward to our new start and new adventure together with a group that is near and dear to both of our hearts. We are excited to see the kids join in the fun every single week and we hope to keep filling their hearts with their own Slovenian heritage.
