In our bargaining, the Employer has been pushing back against important 3903 proposals like:
🌬️ ensuring good air quality in York’s buildings
🤖 not reducing or replacing human educators’ work because of AI
🧑‍🏫 protecting precarious instructors’ pathways to job stability

At this Disability Caucus meeting, we’ll discuss priorities for disabled CUPE 3903 members! 🌟 This is a space exclusively for CUPE 3903 members who self-identify as disabled and/or with the experience of ableism, sanism, and/or audism. ❤️

🗓️ Monday, October 5, 1 - 3PM
📍🛜 CUPE 3903 Office (143 Atkinson) & Virtual (via Zoom)

At this meeting, we’ll also conduct by-elections for Disability Caucus Co-Chairs. 😄 Nominations are open now, so check the link on the event webpage for more details!

The Employer promising a committee to discuss AI isn’t enough to protect educational work at York. 🙄 Promising to meet bare minimum legal standards also isn’t enough.

This Thursday’s GMM has a whole lot going on, so you’re going to want to be there! 📣

At this meeting, CUPE 3903 members can:
⚠️ Hear from the Bargaining Team about the Employer’s months of delays & failures to meaningfully engage at the bargaining table
🗳️ Vote on whether conciliation is a next step that will get us closer to the deal we deserve
💫 Volunteer for 3903 committees to make a positive difference!

The GMM is happening this Thursday, September 24, from 1 - 4PM in hybrid format (online and in-person at the CUPE 3903 Office).

You have a seat at the bargaining table! 🤗

CUPE 3903 Units 1, 2, & 3 are currently engaged in open bargaining as part of the process to advocate for better contracts for TAs, Contract Faculty, and RA/GAs.

🚫🚪 Open bargaining means that our Bargaining Team (BT) never negotiates behind closed doors or withholds info from members.

In open bargaining:
👀 All 3903 members can attend bargaining sessions to observe, participate in caucuses, or pass notes to the bargaining team
📝 The BT posts regular reports of their meetings; nothing the employer says is exempt from being discussed in these reports where relevant
🧑‍💻 All bargaining proposals from both sides get posted to the CUPE 3903 website in their entirety
🌟 What the BT does in bargaining follows the directions it receives from the 3903 membership

Open bargaining keeps the employer accountable for what they do, say, and promise. ✊

Making our bargaining transparent and participatory puts members in the driver’s seat, so that all of the decisions are powered by the membership as a whole. ❤️

🍀 Lucky number thirteen is the number of meetings the CUPE 3903 Units 1, 2, & 3 Bargaining Team (BT) has had with the employer so far in this round of bargaining, and the BT has a lot to say about it!

More importantly — the BT wants to know what YOU think. 🫵

The BT invites all CUPE 3903 members to join us on Thursday, September 17 from 10AM – 12PM for a special townhall on bargaining! 🌟

It’ll be held in hybrid format, online via Zoom and in-person at the CUPE 3903 Office (143 Atkinson Building). 📍

Ask questions, make suggestions, and find out what’s been happening (or not happening) at the bargaining table. 🤔
