Through guided exercises and movement explorations, participants will be invited to develop a deeper awareness of movement, breath, and musicality while discovering the richness of the physical dynamics found in Guinean dances.

The workshop will also explore the connection between voice, rhythm, and gesture, as well as the body’s ability to articulate different energies and layers of movement simultaneously.

In December 2021, dance Immersion hosted the Legacy Tap Dance Symposium, a powerful three-day experience that brought together artists and participants
across generations and from around the world to learn, share, dance, and
perform together in celebration of the legacy of Tap Dance. ✨

Almost four years later, the impact of this gathering continues to live on. We are
incredibly grateful to Artistic Directors Lisa La Touche and Travis Knights
for their vision and leadership in bringing this symposium to life.

A heartfelt thank you as well to the remarkable guest faculty who shared
their artistry and knowledge throughout the journey:

✨️Bril Barrett
✨️Danny Nielsen
✨️Natasha Powell
✨️Mafa Makhubalo
✨️Michael Shand
✨️Jonathan Chapman
✨️Ahmed Mitchell
✨️Anthony D’Alessandro
✨️Jennifer Lo
✨️Kwasi Dunyo

A very big and special thanks to Laurie Townshend for capturing this experience through a beautiful mini-documentary.

Happy International Jazz Day! 🎷

We’re taking a moment to look back at our "Theo x Travis: Jazz is Dead" event from last June, co-presented by Luminato Festival, supported by TO Live.

Jazz is an ongoing conversation, a powerful force for expression, a catalyst for change, and a culture that continues to bring people together across the globe.

We’re incredibly grateful for how the art of jazz united these two phenomenal artists to create such a captivating performance. ✨
