From a young age, many boys are taught to suppress emotion and equate masculinity with dominance. The EmpowerMENt movement works to redefine what it means to be a man, encouraging vulnerability, healthy communication, and respect for others. Breaking these patterns is essential in preventing future violence.

We are honoured that Midaynta Community Services was represented at the Global Somali Diaspora Conference 2026 in Brisbane, Australia.

A special thank you to GSD Global Somali Diaspora for organizing such a meaningful event and for creating a space to bring together Somali leaders, changemakers, and community voices from around the world.

We are especially proud of our staff, Ruweida Hassan and Ebyan Gele, for representing Midaynta and contributing to important conversations on the role of the Somali diaspora, leadership, community development, and collective impact.

Thank you again for the warm welcome and for the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring gathering. We look forward to continued collaboration and connection with communities across the diaspora.

Self-Care doesn’t have to be complicated.

Small moments of care still matter.

Make space for yourself, one small step at a time.

💭 MYTH OR FACT?
You don’t have to be ready to stop using substances to ask for support. 🤝🏽

Support means meeting you where you are, without judgment. Whether you’re unsure, thinking about making a change, or simply want to better understand your substance use, you deserve support and information.

Your journey is yours. You get to decide what change looks like for you. 💚

We showed up. We stood together. We chose peace. 🤍✊🏽

Midaynta came together to support the Community March Against Gun Violence, standing in solidarity with families and communities impacted by violence.

Today was a reminder that our voices matter, our communities matter, and together we can continue to choose peace and a safer future.

Choose Peace. Choose Future. 🕊️

Let’s Talk: Culturally Appropriate Care

Mental health and substance use can look different across cultures and communities.

Everyone deserves care that respects their culture, beliefs, experiences, and preferences. 🤍
