On this National Day of Awareness and Remembrance for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people, Local 6006 stands in solidarity with Indigenous families, communities, and survivors across the country.

We honour the lives lost and recognize the ongoing grief, strength, and resilience of those affected. We also acknowledge that this crisis is rooted in systemic inequities that continue to harm Indigenous peoples in Canada.

As a union, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing truth, justice, and reconciliation, and to supporting meaningful action that addresses violence, inequality, and discrimination in all its forms. We encourage all members to take time today to reflect, learn, and stand in support of Indigenous rights and safety.

Local 6006 remains committed to advocating for dignity, respect, and justice for all workers and communities.

As we approach graduation and prom season, we want to ensure that every graduating student has the opportunity to participate fully in graduation.

We are now accepting donations of dresses, shoes and jewelry to any Durham Regional Police Service division for Gowns for Grads.

Your generous contribution will directly impact the lives of these students, allowing them to partake in the joyous celebrations of graduation and prom.

It’s that wonderful time of the year when our Local’s Social Committee spreads holiday cheer by sending E-Gift Cards to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We’ll be sending a $40.00 PC E-Gift Card to your personal email address between December 11 , 2025 and December 31, 2025.
If you haven’t received your gift card by January 10, 2026, please email us at [email protected].
