Every faith tradition calls us to care for creation, including our fellow human beings. Our friends at the Mary Ward Centre are hosting a peaceful interfaith walk to address homelessness in the city of Toronto — different beliefs, different prayers, one shared calling: to tend to this world with love and intention. Come join the walk and carry hope forward, one step at a time.

This week, over two million pilgrims gather in Mecca for Hajj — one of the largest peaceful gatherings in human history.

For Faith & the Common Good, this moment is an invitation to reflect on what unites us across traditions: the call to care for the world we share.

In Islam, the concept of Khalifah — stewardship of the Earth — is not peripheral. It is central. And it resonates deeply with teachings across faiths: Jewish Tikkun olam, Christian creation care, and more.

As we celebrate Eid al-Adha and honour the spirit of Hajj, we are grateful for our Muslim partners and the wisdom their tradition brings to our shared environmental mission.

Eid Mubarak from our entire team. 🌿

🌾 Chag Sameach! Happy Shavuot! 🌿

Shavuot — the Feast of Weeks — is one of the oldest harvest festivals in human history. It's a moment when Jewish communities around the world give thanks for the earth's abundance, remember the gift of Torah, and renew their covenant with the sacred.

This season, we're reminded that care for the earth is not separate from our faith traditions — it is woven into them.

The very word "Shavuot" speaks of cycles, of patience, of tending what has been entrusted to us. These are the same values that call people of all faiths to protect our shared environment — the soil, the water, the climate — for generations yet to come.

At Faith & the Common Good, we believe the world's diverse spiritual traditions carry ancient wisdom about living lightly and gratefully on this planet. Shavuot is a beautiful reminder of that truth.

To all celebrating: may your harvest be sweet, your communities be well, and may this festival inspire us all to be better stewards of the good earth we share.

Talking about money can feel uncomfortable in a spiritual setting — but financial health is what keeps your community's mission alive. This practical six-week series is built for Canadian faith leaders, board members, stewardship committees, and volunteers across all traditions.

Over six sessions, expert facilitator Mikhael Bornstein — an AFP Master Trainer with over twenty years of nonprofit fundraising experience — will guide participants through everything from crafting a stewardship message rooted in your tradition's values, to major and legacy gifts, capital campaigns, digital giving, grant writing, and CRA compliance.

Topics are grounded in the giving traditions of diverse faiths, including Sadaqah, Tzedakah, Dana, Dasvandh, and Tithing — helping communities move from awkward fundraising asks to a genuine culture of stewardship.

🌕 Happy Vesak Day

Today, Buddhists around the world honour the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing — and the teachings of compassion, mindfulness, and reverence for all living beings that he left behind.

These values live in our work too. From boreal forests to Great Lakes shorelines, Canada's natural world reminds us that we share this earth with countless beings — and that every choice we make ripples outward.

This Vesak, we invite you to plant a seed of intention: walk lightly, give generously, protect what's wild. 🌿

🙏 Wishing peace to all beings.
