Unifor Local 72M represents English and French speaking employees working at at TV Ontario, ILC and Groupe Média TFO as broadcast television as production and office staff, studio and field operation techniciens, maintenance, transmitter techniciens, researchers, education officers, communication specialists etc. Some of our members have a long history with the Local. Unifor Local 72M was created

very recently at the Unifor Founding Convention on August 31st 2013. Previously Local 72M was part of CEP the Comunications, Energy and Paper workers of Canada. The local celebrated 40 years as a union in 2011. Originally it was a part of NABET, a broadcast union in Canada which represented radio, television and production support workers across the country. NABET first came to Canada in the 1950′s to organize the CBC. Local 72 was organized in 1971.

Unifor section locale 72M représente les employés francophones et anglophones qui travaillent au sein de TFO Groupe Média, TV Ontario et ILC et occupent des postes tel qu’en support de production, personnel de bureau, techniciens de studio et tournages extérieurs, techniciens d'exploitation, techniciens de maintenance, techniciens d’entretien d’émetteurs, recherchistes, agents d’éducation, spécialistes de communication etc. Certains de nos membres sont avec nous depuis très longtemps. Unifor section locale 72M a été créé très récemment lors du congrès fondateur d’Unifor le 31 août 2013. Auparavant la section locale 72M faisait partie du SCEP, Le Sydicat Canadien des communications de l'énergie et du papier. La section locale 72M a célébré ses 40 ans. À l’origine, la section locale faisait partie de NABET, un syndicat du domaine de la diffusion radio et télé au Canada qui représentait les employés de la radio, de la télévision et les employés de soutien à la production, à travers le pays. NABET est arrivé en premier au Canada dans les années 1950 pour organiser le réseau SRC. La section locale 72 a été mise en place en 1971.
