Ethio Community Bridge - Toronto

Ethio Community Bridge - Toronto Ethiopian communities bridge In other words, the Oromo Community is a self-contained body, concerned with Oromo related matters.

Community Bridge is an entity initiated by interest group Ethiopians living in Toronto, Canada to harmonize relations between the Oromo and Amhara Communities in the Greater Toronto area and beyond. The Amhara Community is part of the Ethiopian Community, which embraces members from other ethnic groups, while the Oromo community members are virtually Oromo language speakers. Even though the two en

tities belong to the same country of origin, they are not working on mutual grounds and common goals. The Community Bridge Initiative is basically inspired by the current alliance of the Oromo and Amhara peoples back home in the fight against a divisive and suppressive regime in Ethiopia. Despite the propaganda wave from the part of the regime to foment hostility among the nations and nationalities, the peoples of Ethiopia showed remarkable tolerance, respect and positive attitudes toward each other. The current solidarity between Amhara and Oromo peoples are the reflection of such well cemented harmony. The effort of community bridging is framed on such noble value of the Ethiopian people. Thus, the originators of this initiative have formed an ad hock committee and will temporarily act to facilitate the process of community linkage until a joint organization is established to sustain the ideals laid by the initiative.
