Equity is the voice of professional artists engaging in live performance in English Canada.

We are a national association representing almost 6,000 artists working in theatre, opera and dance from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Canadian Actors' Equity Association (CAEA) stands in solidarity with Actors' Equity Association (AEA) and the Disneyland Entertainment Cast Members who have been negotiating their first union contract since October 2024.

Although progress has been made at the bargaining table, negotiations have been prolonged while management has reportedly threatened to eliminate existing benefits, including paid parental leave, paid sick leave, and retirement benefits.

We encourage Canadian artists to learn more about the campaign and add their voices in support by visiting AEA's website and signing the petition (https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/stand-with-the-disneyland-entertainment-cast-members). More than 5,000 supporters have already called on management to reach a fair agreement that respects the rights of workers and meets their needs.

We stand in solidarity with our FIA colleagues in Colombia and support their work to promote labour rights and democratic values through culture and the arts.

Colombian actors and Union Leaders Julio Hernán Correal Triana and Diana María Soledad Ángel Rodríguez have been the targets of threats due to their commitment to promoting democratic values through their artistic and union activities. Their work embodies the principles of freedom of expression, dialogue over violence, tolerance over hatred, inclusion over exclusion, and the pursuit of a more just society based on social justice.

Equity is pleased to announce the 2026–2029 National Ballet of Canada Agreement was ratified last week, with members voting 100% in support of the proposed changes.

The ratified terms will take effect July 1, 2026. An updated version of the agreement will be available online soon.
