🎶 Why Does Live Music Sound Different Than Recorded Music? 🎶

There’s something about hearing music LIVE that a recording just can’t quite capture. But have you ever wondered why? 🎤🎸

🎵 Every performance is unique.
A live musician might change the timing, add an extra note, extend a solo or simply perform a song with a different energy. No two performances are exactly the same!

🎵 You’re hearing the room, too.
The acoustics of a venue affect how sound travels and surrounds you. You don’t just hear live music - you can actually feel the vibrations!

🎶 DID YOU KNOW? 🍁

Canada may be known for hockey, maple syrup and beautiful scenery… but we’ve also given the world some pretty incredible musicians! 🎤🎸

Here are a few fun Canadian music facts:

🎵 Shania Twain was born in Windsor, Ontario, and raised in Timmins. She went on to become one of the best-selling female artists in country music history!

🎵 Céline Dion grew up in a family of 14 children in Charlemagne, Quebec. Music was a huge part of family life, and she began performing at a very young age.

🎵 Neil Young was born in Toronto and spent part of his childhood in Ontario before becoming one of rock music’s most influential singer-songwriters.

🎵 Joni Mitchell was born in Alberta! The legendary singer-songwriter was born in Fort Macleod before growing up in Saskatchewan.

🎵 The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye in Toronto, became the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

🎵 Bryan Adams was born in Kingston, Ontario, and has spent decades representing Canadian rock music around the world.

🎵 Oscar Peterson, one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, was born and raised in Montreal and began playing piano as a child.

From country and folk to rock, jazz and pop, Canadian musicians have made a HUGE mark on the world stage. 🇨🇦🎶

🎶 Throwback Thursday 🎶

Today we're looking back to February 15, 2020, when the incredibly talented Michela Sheedy took the stage for the Strathmore Musical Arts Society at the Strathmore Legion.

Little did we know it would be our final concert before the world paused due to COVID-19. While it marked the end of one chapter, it certainly wasn't the end of Michela's incredible journey!

Since performing for our audience, Michela has continued to shine:
⭐ Lead vocalist in the 2025 Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show
🔥 Entering her 9th season singing the national anthems for the Calgary Flames
🎤 Appeared on Canada's Got Talent in 2024
🎵 Celebrating 10 years as a full-time professional recording and performing artist

We're so proud to have been part of Michela's musical journey and love watching our past performers achieve such incredible success.
