🎉 Yesterday, we celebrated a milestone in downtown Listowel!

The Music Hall Apartments project has reached its capital campaign goal in less than a year—a huge step forward for United Housing and the North Perth community.

This success shows what’s possible when people come together to tackle the housing crisis locally. Thank you to every donor, investor and partner who made this happen—including Dave Johnston and his family, whose generous gift pushed the campaign over the finish line.

🏡 Located at 190–198 Main St W, the Music Hall project is transforming underutilized space into 10 mixed-income rental units—including market, workforce and deeply affordable housing.

💛 Together, we’re building something that will make a lasting difference—and create a model for other communities across Perth-Huron.

Early evidence suggests non-pernament tiny shelters perpetuate a cycle of homelessness.

Its more effective to redirect fudning from short-term responses to long term housing investments that provide stability and better outcomes for people experiencing homesslessness.

Yesterday, United Housing Director Kathy Vassilakos spoke with CBC's Matt Allen about a new United Housing research paper (co-written by Kathy and Research Intern Maria Erb) examining the social and financial costs of non-permanent shelter systems in addressing homelessness.
We appreciated the opportunity to share more about this research paper and the questions it raises for communities in our region and beyond.
