Happy Pride from Perth South Township! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Mayor Orr and Councillor Jeff Bell were joined today by MP John Nater, MPP Matthew Rae, representatives from the Health Unit, and members of our community for the raising of the Pride flag.

Mayor Orr noted that "In a small municipality like ours, with one flagpole in the centre of our community, raising the Pride flag is an opportunity to recognize the importance of inclusion, respect, and belonging for all people. For many, this flag serves as a symbol of hope, support, and acceptance."

Get ready to raise the flags for pride 🏳‍🌈🏳‍🌈🏳‍🌈On Friday May 29th the city of Stratford is raising the pride flag at 8:30 am! Stratford Festival will also be raising at 9:15am, and North Perth Pride will be raising theirs at on June 1st at 12:30pm. Come celebrate the start of a fantastic month!

Today is Pansexual and Panromantic Pride day! This day we highlight the important individuals in our lives who fall under Pansexual or Panromantic. These orientations mean that an individual can experience romantic or intimate feelings for someone regardless of gender. If you are Pansexual or Panromantic, know that you are seen, you are heard, and you are loved.

Today is Harvey Milk day. This important day is to remember the Birthday of Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man to have been elected into office in the United States. Harvey Milk fought his whole life for the equal treatment that he and other q***r individuals deserve, this was a cause he believed in with his whole heart, and was willing to die for. We wish Harvey Milk a happy Birthday and make sure he knows we are continuing his fight for him

Agender is a gender orientation where the individual does not feel they fit under the spectrum of male and female, they feel an absence of gender and exist just as they are.
