With sincere gratitude to the donor who made a generous gift to our Every Day Counts campaign in loving memory of Stephen Russell. Today, we remember and celebrate a life that continues to inspire and is deeply missed.

The Every Day Counts campaign helps support Rotary Hospice by inviting individuals to contribute $350, which is the amount needed to cover operating costs per room per day. While residents receive care at no cost, Rotary Hospice depends on community donations to cover essential expenses not funded by the government. Your support directly enhances the quality of care we provide, helping us remain a place of comfort, dignity, and compassion. This generous donation to our Every Day Counts campaign was made in honour of their 'siblings weekend' on September 5 by Jane McDonald.

The Every Day Counts campaign invites individuals to donate $350, the amount needed per room, per day, to sustain care provided at Rotary Hospice. While government funding covers part of our costs, community support is essential to maintaining our high standard of compassionate care, offered at no cost to residents. Meet our September Volunteer of the Month: Tim 🎶

This month, we’re celebrating Tim Elliott, one of our talented piano volunteers, and someone who truly answers the call when we need him most.

When a hospice family requested a specific hymn for their loved one’s honour walk, they knew they wanted the comfort of music, but were too emotional to sing themselves. With just 10 minutes’ notice, Tim arrived at our hospice home, took his place at the piano and helped make their wishes possible.

As the family said goodbye, Tim played the requested hymn and led our hospice team in singing alongside him. His steady presence and musical gift created an incredibly emotional and special moment. This is just one of many examples of how Tim helps make every moment matter for those in our care.

Tim, thank you for your quick response, your generosity, and your willingness to share your time and talent with our hospice community. Your music brings comfort in moments when words simply aren’t enough.

We’re so grateful for you! 💙

Care doesn’t only happen within our hospice walls. 💙

Through our Visiting Hospice program, trained volunteers bring companionship, comfort, and support into the homes of individuals living with a life-limiting illness. They also provide caregivers with something just as valuable: time—to run errands, attend appointments, or simply recharge.

Because no one should have to face this journey alone, this program is offered at no cost thanks to the generosity of our community.
