What if economic reconciliation isn’t separate from regional competitiveness, but a key part of it?

As Saskatchewan communities work to attract investment, strengthen their workforce, build economic resilience, and create thriving regions, Indigenous leadership and partnership are increasingly important to the conversation.

Indigenous communities are not simply stakeholders in regional economic development. They are governments, employers, investors, entrepreneurs, landowners, rights holders, and increasingly, economic ecosystem builders.

Strong economic ecosystems are built on strong relationships. Regions that learn to work across municipal, Indigenous, business, institutional, and community boundaries will be better positioned to create opportunities no single organization can create alone.

Read the latest Leadership Brief to explore what economic reconciliation can mean for the future of Saskatchewan’s regional economies.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, SEDA joins communities across Canada in honouring survivors, remembering those who never returned home, and recognizing the resilience of Indigenous peoples.

Meaningful reconciliation includes fostering respectful partnerships, supporting Indigenous economic prosperity, and creating opportunities that contribute to healthy, vibrant communities.

Today, we reflect on our shared responsibilities and recommit to learning and action.
