"Hey preacher, I need to talk with you."
Saint John County Jail, 1978. Bruce Smith had not long arrived in the city and been appointed chaplain. He was walking toward a small interview room when a deep voice called out from behind the bars.
His name was Eric.
That was 1978, and Bruce is still on mission. Evangelism is a partnership — the Holy Spirit goes ahead of us and opens the moment; our part is to notice it and answer. Bruce has spent a lifetime answering. This year he marks fifty years as a commissioned evangelist. In thanksgiving, he's written some of it down.
Some Kinda Wonderful is forty pages of those moments: God meeting people right where they are, usually when they weren't expecting it. Eric's story is one of them. You can read it all in a sitting.
It's a joyful and encouraging read. It also raises the question for each of us: who is God already at work in? Who is he wanting us to speak to and walk alongside?
Bruce priced it as low as Amazon allows and is giving every royalty to Threshold's street-level outreach. Buy one for yourself and one to pass on.
