Have you heard? 🎥 NIȽ TU,O has a brand new documentary, and it’s available to watch now!

IST ȽTE ȻEN,TOL - We Paddle Together tells the story of the creation of the two canoes commissioned by NIȽ TU,O for Tribal Journeys. 🛶 ✨

🌲 The first canoe, called SW̱EW̱OEŦ, (meaning “Thunder”) was created and painted by Coast Salish carver Luke Marston. It was carved from an ancient cedar tree in the traditional dugout style.

⚡️ The second canoe called XENEḴT E TŦE SW̱EW̱OET (meaning “Lightning”) was built from laminated strips of cedar. This canoe was built by Len Morris and painted by Chazz Elliott.

The creation of both canoes was supported by youth and community members. 💙

🌿 During the summer months, SĆI¸SEṈIȽĆ (Saskatoon) produces sweet, blue-purple SĆI¸SEṈ (berries) that provide a valuable food source for people, birds, and other wildlife. 🫐

In spring, the plant’s beautiful white flowers attract native pollinators, including SEMSEMÍYE (bumblebees). Growing in local meadows and woodlands, this native shrub plays an important role in supporting biodiversity throughout the seasons. 🐝
