Today was a training check out day. The clubs Heisler steam engine was out on the rails. Here we have club member Phil taking a few laps at the controls.

More prep as opening day gets closer. The wooden ties on this bridge needed replacement as well as the safety boards. Plastic ties were cut to length, notched on end for water flow, and put in place. The wooden safety boards are being replaced with a composite decking used on docks, it will put last the bridge.

Today was more track work. We had some dips we had to remove. This will make the ride smoother for everyone, but in doing so we discovered that a new tool would help out. Now you can’t by a lot of “fix a giant model railway” tool so we build them. This will be used to damp or pack the gravel under the ties to help level the track.

On new years day we have a private club social. A time to get together and play trains. Make plans for the year and check the rails. Here is a wonderful video of the day

This a short video coming down the logging loop. It’s too steep and sharp for public ridership but it can be used to make it seam like a real railway in operation.

Our traditional club frostbite meat get together on New Year’s Day.  A way for club members to be social and hang out and prepare for the years running for the public.

Almost done !!! Welded up a parking/display track. Switch throw installed. Just need to ballast and it’s usable.
