For Community. Forever.

Since 1990, Richmond Community Foundation has connected caring donors with the needs of our local community.

Our work is built around three pillars:

Grants: Annual funding for Richmond charitable organizations working in education, sports, arts, healthcare and the environment.

Scholarships: Annual awards that help Richmond students pursue post-secondary education.

Forever Funds: Permanent endowment funds invested for growth, creating stable, long-term revenue for Richmond and supporting our community for generations to come.

For individuals, families and businesses, a Forever Fund is one of four ways to give: alongside general gifts, directed gifts and securities. Whatever form your generosity takes, your support stays local and helps build a stronger Richmond.

Have an idea that could be stronger with another organization, but you’re not quite ready for a full grant application?

Richmond Community Foundation’s Exploring Collaboration Grants offer up to $2,500 to help Richmond-based charitable organizations explore working together. Funding can support workshops, meeting space, facilitators, equipment, professional help with project design or budgeting, and other tools or resources needed to develop a collaborative initiative.

The opportunity is intended for two or more organizations exploring something together that they may not be able to do on their own.

The Letter of Intent deadline is November 2, 2026-the same deadline as Community Grants.

There’s more than one way to make a difference in Richmond, and the right choice depends on what matters most to you.

Individuals, families and local businesses can choose from four giving options:

• Make a general donation to support community granting.
• Direct a gift to a cause you care about.
• Contribute to an existing Forever Fund or establish your own named Forever Fund.
• Donate securities through the separate securities donation form.

A Forever Fund is an endowment account that is permanently invested and grows over time. Each year, a portion of the investment income supports local charities, helping your gift continue making a difference in Richmond for generations to come.

Could your project help create a stronger Richmond for everyone? Community Grants of $1,000–$10,000 support projects with broad community impact, including new ideas, expanded or improved programs, and capital purchases that create greater efficiencies.

Funding is available for projects in:
Arts and culture
Healthcare
Environment
Food security
Sports and recreation
Social services

Projects may serve a specific population, but their benefits should reach broadly across Richmond. Multi-partner projects are encouraged, and up to 10% of a grant may support administration.

The 2026 intake opened August 31. The first step is to complete the Letter of Intent template, due November 2, 2026.
