Inpower would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped us create such a beautiful afternoon celebrating and honouring our breast cancer community at our annual High Tea of Hope this past Sunday at the Hotel Saskatchewan.

This year’s theme, “Let Your Light Shine,” reminded us of the incredible light within each of us and the power of coming together to inspire, uplift, and empower one another. 💗

Our incredible guest speaker, Rachel Mielke, Founder and CEO of Hillberg & Berk, inspired us with her presentation, “Find Your Spark,” encouraging us to reconnect with what brings us joy and ignites our passion. Our talented dancers, Peyton MacPherson, Brynn, and Grace, dazzled the crowd with their beautiful performances, adding even more sparkle to the afternoon!

A special thank you to our event sponsors, door prize donors, media sponsor JACK 94.5 Regina's Greatest Hits and our amazing MC, Sheri Eberts. We are also grateful to Jason Robbins for our beautiful art cards, photographer Carina Lamarche of Details Photography Studio for capturing these special moments, the Weger family for the beautiful flower wall backdrop, Safeway for their generous flower donation and Erin Degelman, for the most delicious cupcakes, cookies and cake!

Inpower is excited to be hosting a second rural retreat this year in Lloydminster, Sask. Thanks to funding from the Status of Women and support from the Heidi Clay Memorial Fund, Saskatchewan women with any cancer can connect to build community and support. The day will focus on emotional, physical, and mental health support for women in the Lloydminster area facing and recovering from a cancer diagnosis. We are excited to host our annual High Tea of Hope event on Sunday, October 18th, 2026 at the Hotel Saskatchewan. We are honoured to have our special Guest Speaker Rachel Mielke, Founder/CEO of Hillberg and Berk, and a special ballet performance by Payton McPherson. Our theme is "Let Your Light Shine" and we encourage guests to wear a little extra sparkle to the event this year! We look forward to seeing you there!

Angelique Lang, Genetic Counsellor with SHA and interim Manager of Medical Genetics, provided an excellent presentation to healthcare providers on hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic testing eligibility and referral recommendations for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

Thank you Angelique for providing this important component of care for women and families that may be affected by hereditary breast cancer.

Dr. Angelica Lang, from the University of Saskatchewan, provided an very insightful presentation on her research on the impacts of breast cancer treatment on shoulder function and movement, and how ongoing research aims to assist with rehabilitation and supportive care for survivors.

Thank you to Dr. Lang and her research team at the Shoulder Health and Ergonomics Research Lab for sharing this important research with our healthcare providers at our education event last week!

The study is currently looking for survivors who received either implants (sub pectoral) or DIEP reconstruction to participate in the study.

The Regina Breast Health Centre (BHC) has significantly improved breast health care in Saskatchewan by bringing diagnostics, treatment planning and rehabilitation supports together in one location.

Their health care team of breast radiologists, surgeons, nurse navigators, physiotherapists, a social worker, medical imaging staff and support professionals works together to guide patients from screening through diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Thank you to the BHC representatives- Dr. Miller, Megan Clancy, Kayla Toupin, Megan Jakubowski and Jade Ganje- for providing an excellent overview of the BHC referral process, multidisciplinary services, and clinical updates for breast cancer care at our Healthcare Providers Education event last week.

For women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, the BHC offers a weekly optional pre-operative education class presented by the BHC team with a focus on surgery preparation and post-op recovery.
