Nestor Mryglod to run as Independent candidate in Regina Wascana East, in an area where Sask Party destroyed his family manufacturing business. That is Highway Robbery: The Regina Bypass Land Scandal.
PRESS RELEASE
In the last eight years, we have witnessed firsthand the lack of accountability and transparency in government. The biggest infrastructure project in Saskatchewan’s history that will go down as Highway Robbery: The Regina Bypass Land Scandal. Our forty-year-old building products manufacturing company expansion plans were impacted and destroyed by the Brad Wall Sask Party. I have been
threatened by Brad Wall that I am slandering his MLAs in particular Christine Tell whose family has land along the Bypass road that would have been impacted by the Regina Bypass being built around the gravel pit road outside the city which would have made it a fully-functional Bypass at a cost of 500% less than of what the 2 Billion Dollar cost taxpayers. What has inspired me to run as an independent in the upcoming election against Christine Tell is that we need to fix our system of government where the most
popular people with the most friends who have the most money get them into power and they turn around and patronize them. It is very evident when you look at who purchased land along Tower Road to build their malls and CN intermodal. These are people that were connected with the government. In fact, Long Lake Investments principal, Murad Alkatib was on the Regina Economic development board in 2011 and in 2012 with the mayors of Regina, former Mayor Pat Fiaco and present mayor Michael Fougere. Did he have insider information to purchase 500 acres of land for $12,000 an acre with a grand total of $6
Million Dollars and then turn around and sell 128 acres for $85,000 an acre for a total of $10.1 Million Dollars, making $4 Million Dollars clear and having 372 free acres of land that he is now built to CN Intermodal and selling lots of $370,000 an acre and over 3,400% profit. Wasn’t this a Conflict of Interest of the mayors, Pat Fiaco and Michael Fougere and Murad Alkatib and all directors on the Regina
Economic Development Board why was there a need of a Public Inquiry & a Forensic Audit.
We have seen the GTH land scandal were developers and friends of the government flip land and made $11 Million Dollars and the RCMP closed down the investigation of the Regina Bypass Land Scandal saying that they spent over two years, 7,500 hours and they did not meet the threshold to subpoena evidence. Geoff Leo of CBC brought out all the facts about how he government could have purchased 54
acres that they needed from the Order of Nuns for $5,000-$6,000 per acre of what they are paying everyone else in the area but instead, Premier Brad Wall signed an order in council to pay $21.1 Million Dollars for four times much land that they needed at 20 times the rate everyone is getting in the area.
Wasn’t there a conflict of interest with Deputy Premier Bill Boyd renting land from Robert Taupoff who made $6 Million Dollars flipping land? The carnage did not end here.
At White City, Mauri Gwyn Developments in 2012 purchased 7.4 acres of land from Ministry of Highways because they needed more property to build a fence beside the highway for $20,000 an acre. 3 years later, the Ministry of Highways re-purchased 2.4 acres and paid $400,000 an acre along the Regina Bypass route and people were being paid between $5,000-$400,000 an acre. They never got the $400,000 an acre but of course that the developers received.
Then the government approved building an outdated, seriously flawed, dysfunctional, unsafe $2 Billion Dollar, development-influenced, dead-end Regina Bypass in city limits. People said that if it was free it would have been a dumb idea to build the Regina Bypass south around the city
when the Regina Commercial Industrial Business District is in the northeast part of the city. And then to add insult to injury, Vinci, a company form France who was deeply rooted in scandals in Europe, was contracted to build the Regina Bypass at a cost of $1.88 Billion Dollars. Very few of Saskatchewan road builders and bridge builders get any work on the project. The very troubling part is that the Coquihalla Highway was built for less than the Regina Bypass which was 303 kilometers long of four-lane paved highway over the roughest terrain in the country.
The Regina Bypass is 40 kilometers of four-lane highway on flat, prairie land and is eight times shorter and a thousand times less degree of difficulty. That is Highway Robbery.
In the middle of the cover up, Premier Brad Wall, Deputy Premier Bill Boyd and Finance Minister Kevin Doherty cut and ran in the middle of their term, leaving Saskatchewan in a recession with a 6% PST in the construction and service industries because of all the government waste of 42 Billion Dollars to build the Regina Bypass in the wrong place, by a company from France. Very few Saskatchewan company received any work from the Regina Bypass.
Now, we have a new government who went to work 14 days this year in the midst of the greatest crisis in the world that doesn’t have a budget, a plan that has destroyed many lives and businesses that should be working full time and overtime right through the summer to do a job they are hired to do to work and operate the business of the company of Saskatchewan for every man, woman and child.
That is why I have been inspired to run because I have seen our system of government is broke and it needs to be fixed. It is not going to be fixed by the parties in government. The last eight years, we went to the NDP to help us. In 2014, we took a petition to the NDP that they promised to bring up to the legislature about giving the location of the Regina Bypass a second sober look. What did they do?
Nothing.
We have sent them thousands of pages of information, hundreds of questions to ask the government, thousands of petitions. Why are they reluctant to talk about the Regina Bypass Land Scandal? They had the key to get rid of the Sask Party in the last election. What did they do? They talked about smart meters and nothing about the Regina Bypass Land Scandal. We have written the NDP hundreds
of letters in the last three months, we have sent them letters almost daily. the only response we got was from Yens Pederson, our MLA in our business area who responded, saying that he was looking into it. We have send leader Ryan Meili letters daily. His secretary hung up on me and now, they delete our emails without reading them. These are the people who are running the business of Saskatchewan that have failed miserably and are they listening to the people? Are they working for the people? Who are they working for? Look around the Regina Bypass and see who the developers that purchased land were. Why wasn’t there a Public Inquiry and a Forensic Audit into the Regina Bypass Land Scandal? Even Gordon Wyatt when he was campaigning for Premier he promised to call for a Public Inquiry into the Global Transportation Hub land transactions regardless of the RCMP’s decision not to press any charges. He is on record as stating; “We need it to shine a very, very bright light on this and the only way to do that is to give the commissioner the power that he needs not only to compel witnesses, documents and testimonies but to make some findings so that we can put this whole thing behind us as a party.” He went on to say: “There are unanswered questions for me. I am a citizen of this province and weather I am a member of the government or not there are some troubling things about this. At the end of the day we need to clear the air so that the people are made comfortable with what happened.”
So, what changed? Why did the RCMP shut down the investigation? Why didn’t the Provincial Auditor do a Forensic Audit? Why is the media not talking about this? Why is the media not publishing our articles? Is it because they don’t want the people to know how corrupt our system of government is?
Everyone we speak to and the thousands of people who have signed our petition say we need a change in the corrupt system of government that has been dictating in our province and in our country. Our democracy is at stake. How does this happen in the 21 st century? How has our politics got so far off the course that we were in such a dire straits? How are we going to fix it? First of all, we are going to fire the people we hired to run the business of Saskatchewan. We need to get rid of the party lines. We need independent people and business people running our government.
I believe I have a lot to bring to the table. I have worked hard building a successful manufacturing and customer service business in the last forty years. Our manufacturing business would have achieved international business status, employing hundreds of people locally and thousands of people nationally and internationally if our business expansion plans would have been completed before the government bulldozed through our business and lives impacting our industry, destroying my sister’s career, having a major stroke after Brad Wall threatened me at the Premier’s dinner.
So, I decided to run right against Christine Tell, in the area that our business would have been located, against Christine Tell who had a conflict because their family had land in the area. Brandt took a plan to the government to move the Regina Bypass to Gravel Pit Road. Instead, the government approved building an outdated, dysfunctional, $2 Billion Dollar, dead end bypass in city limits. The original
approved plan to build the Regina Bypass 400 meters east of Tower Road was to accommodate the developers who had bought 640 acres of land along Tower Road.
I challenge the taxpayers to wake up and support independent candidates so we can fix the corrupt system
of government that we can have people stand up in the legislature and fight for the people in our constituency. We have spent over 20, 000 hours bringing this Regina Bypass Scandal to light, researching, writing letters, and social media campaign, trying to get the government do the right thing.
So, why aren’t we getting any help? Because the government doesn’t want the people to know how corrupt the system of government is and it is said that the 1% who controls 97% of the wealth who determines what happens in government. The government is a puppet to the developers. It is completely obvious in the Regina Bypass Land Scandal and nobody in government wants to talk about it.
Why plan to stand up for everyone, every man, woman and child in my area to listen to the people, stand up in the legislature and bring up all your concerns. In fact, we need to have people make representations in the legislature just like in civic politics wherein individuals or groups can make a presentation. We also need an oversight committee in government, policing and the Law Society. We need a right of recall but most of all, we need to have a Judicial Public Inquiry and a Forensic Audit into the Regina Bypass that
will expose the cover up and the deep-rooted scandal in our government, the conflict of interest. We need to OPEN THE BOOKS AND JAIL THE CROOKS. Where did the money go? I will stand up every day and listen to the people and challenge the government to do the right thing. I have seen the devastation in businesses and families throughout Saskatchewan from the lack of accountability in government.
When I’m elected, I will donate all of my salary to the Food Bank because many people had been driven to the Food Bank for their daily sustenance. We need a revolution of change in our system of government. I will work tirelessly to ensure that there is a change that everyone’s human rights are being protected that the people and the corrupt people in the government be held accountable. We need accountability and transparency in government and that’s what I stand for.
We all need to do our part to make this world a better place. We need our government to provide customer service to everyone. I have had over forty years of providing customer service to tens of thousands of people in operating and servicing our customers with building products. What kind of customer service are we getting from our politicians? The only people who are getting customer service are the inner circle people who run our government. Look around the Regina Bypass and you can pick out the handful of people that would run our government. The government is just a puppet to the developers.
We see that in the municipal government, provincial government and the federal government. We need a change to overhaul, we need a revolution. I am going to challenge you to checkout highwayrobbery.org and to see what happened in the biggest infrastructure project in Saskatchewan that will go down in history as Highway Robbery: The Regina Bypass Land Scandal. Is this the system of government who are working with the people, which is
listening to the people? Who are the people they are working for? Open the books and jail the crooks. We need a democratic system of government.
Thank you for your support! We can make our government accountable again and I will help and do anything in my power to make it happen.
