Red dresses will hang across this country today.
Each one represents a life that should still be here.
May 5th, Red Dress Day, is a time to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. It is a day of remembrance, but also a call to action.
Indigenous women are sacred. They are life-givers, knowledge keepers and leaders within their communities. The violence they face is not accidental it is rooted in colonial systems that continue to put their lives at risk.
This crisis is not in the past. It is ongoing.
At KAIROS Canada, we stand in solidarity with families, communities and advocates who continue to call for justice, safety and systemic change.
Honouring this day means more than wearing red. It means learning, listening and taking action.
