It is a labour of love for all involved and the support of our community is greatly appreciated. The Peterborough Library's and the Friends of the Library's history of success is directly related to the generous gently-used book donations made by its community. On a weekly basis, dedicated library supporters gather in the basement to sort thousands of books for every age, interest and genre. Fund-raising efforts are concentrated on two giant book sales (the second largest in Ontario) and a variety of special interest mini-sales held in the lobby. donate an annual average of $40,000 to the library for the purchase of materials, programming expenses, audio books and bestsellers. Conceived in 1986, this most impressive endeavour totaled $635,600 as of October 2014. What an amazing team effort by the library staff, Friends of the Library and the citizens of Peterborough.
