Q&A: Is everything confidential at PCFC?

Your privacy matters. Peer support is a safe place to talk, and we do not share information with your family or care providers.

There are only a few situations where confidentiality may need to be broken, including if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves, harming someone else, or if a child is being abused or neglected.

Questions are always welcome, we’re here to help make things clear. 💚

Content Warning: Su***de among Indigenous communities.

During National Indigenous History Month, we honour the histories, cultures, strength, resilience, and knowledge that First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities continue to carry and protect.

We also acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonization, residential schools, intergenerational trauma, and systemic inequities. These impacts continue to affect mental health and access to care. In 2024, 47% of First Nations people living off reserve, 43% of Métis, and 35% of Inuit reported needing mental health care in the previous year. Su***de rates among Indigenous people have also been reported as three times higher than among non-Indigenous people.

These statistics are not just numbers. They reflect real people, families, communities, and the urgent need for culturally safe, accessible, and community led supports.

Learning, reflection, and truth-telling are part of our shared responsibility toward reconciliation. We commit to listening, respecting Indigenous voices, and supporting meaningful change.🧡

Recovery is not weakness, it takes strength. 💚

Choosing recovery can mean showing up on hard days, asking for support, trying again, and taking one step at a time.

Courage, effort, and resilience are part of recovery every single day.

To the q***r community this Pride Month, we have many things we want to say and share and acknowledge.

A single statement, let alone a single word, cannot fully encompass everything this community has experienced and is currently experiencing.

Mental health check-in 💚

You don’t have to explain how you’re feeling if you don’t want to. Sometimes an emoji says enough.

Drop an emoji in the comments that matches your mood today. Silly, sleepy, overwhelmed, hopeful, or anything in between. We’re checking in with ourselves and each other, one small moment at a time.

Recovery myth: recovery looks the same for everyone.

Reality: recovery is personal. What helps one person may not be what helps another, and that’s okay.

Everyone’s path, pace, supports, and goals can look different. There is no single “right” way to heal. What matters is finding what feels supportive, meaningful, and sustainable for you. 💛
