Mental health professionals play a critical role in supporting individuals impacted by intimate partner violence (IPV). But finding the right resources, training, and referral pathways can be challenging.

Join Mhaven and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals on June 25 from 12:00–1:00 PM to learn about a new resource designed to help bridge the gap between IPV and mental health care.

In this free webinar, you'll discover how Mhaven can support your practice by:
✔ Connecting you with specialized IPV and mental health resources
✔ Providing opportunities for trauma- and violence-informed training
✔ Helping you get listed in a province-wide directory of mental health providers
✔ Strengthening your ability to recognize and respond to IPV in clinical settings

Mhaven is Canada's first intimate partner violence-focused mental health platform, connecting people impacted by IPV, their supporters, and healthcare providers with culturally safe, trauma- and violence-informed care.

Whether you work in private practice, community mental health, healthcare, or social services, this session offers valuable insights and tools to enhance your practice and better support those affected by IPV.

What role should social media play in the lives of children and youth?

In a new article, Dr. Rob Meeder, Clinical Lead of Waypoint’s Family, Child and Youth Mental Health Program, explores why protecting children online is increasingly being viewed as a public health issue.

From sleep disruption and cyberbullying to social comparison and exposure to harmful content, the digital world can have a significant impact on young people's mental health and wellbeing. As Canada considers a social media ban for children under 16, Dr. Meeder examines the growing concerns, emerging research, and the need for safer digital environments, stronger platform accountability, digital literacy, and timely access to mental health care.

The County of Simcoe has officially declared intimate partner violence (IPV) an epidemic.

We welcome this decision and the growing recognition that IPV is a serious public health and community issue, not a private matter.

This declaration acknowledges the reality facing many individuals and families across our region and helps raise awareness of the need for action. It also supports ongoing efforts to reduce stigma, strengthen services, and advocate for sustainable resources for survivors.

But awareness must be matched with support. Intimate partner violence can have lasting impacts on mental health, physical health, housing, employment, and overall well-being. Survivors need access to coordinated, trauma- and violence-informed care across health, social, community, and justice systems.

That's why Mhaven was created. To provide people impacted by intimate partner violence, as well as those who support them, with access to trusted information, mental health resources, service navigation tools, and lived-experience insights in one place.

Declarations matter because they help move conversations into action. We applaud Simcoe County and the many municipalities across Ontario that are helping shine a light on this issue.
