2029 Canada Summer Games Head Coach

The Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA) is accepting applications for the volunteer position of Head Coach for the 2029 Canada Summer Games Athletics Team. The successful applicant will work with the 2029 Canada Games Track and Field Prep Squad and coach at the Canada Summer Games, expected to take place in Moncton or Saint John, New Brunswick, between July 27 and August 12, 2029. The Canada Games Council has not yet confirmed the exact dates or location of the athletics competition.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ NLAA Provincial Cross Country Championships — Results Are In! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

What a day at Bowring Park in St. John's! Congrats to all the athletes who raced today across the U16 (2KM), U18 (4KM), and U20/Senior/Masters (6KM) events.

🌟 Highlights:

U16 Girls — Juliet Squires-Sturge (Brookside Intermediate) took the win in 7:52, with teammate Emma Fleming close behind in 8:14!

U16 Boys — Jonah Murphy (Pearlgate Track & Field) crossed first in 6:50.

U18 Girls — Allison Duffett (Pearlgate) won in 14:55.

U18 Boys — Henry Pearson (Pearlgate) led the way in 11:42, with teammates Jonathan Wardle and Evan Johnson making it a Pearlgate sweep of the top 3!

U20 Girls — Olivia Hiscock (MUN Cross Country) in 26:04.

Senior Women — Abbigail House (MUN Cross Country) in 24:39.

Masters — Tracy Lawrence (32:34) and Dennis Flynn (36:00), both of Athletics Northeast.

This Sunday, hundreds of people will be waking up early to run 20km from the foggiest point to the windiest hill of the East Coast. That's right, its Cape to Cabot time! 👟

⚠️On October 18, 2026 sections of Cape Spear Lighthouse and Signal Hill National Historic Sites will be closed to public access from 7:00 am to 11:30 am for the race. Shuttle busses will take spectators between the Fort William Building parking lot and finish line, at the summit of Signal Hill, between 8:30 am and 11:30 am.
