Toddlers! Your special day at Grey Roots is almost here!
Toddlers Take the Museum is coming up on Saturday November 7 from 10-11 AM.
The one and only Tammy Cruickshank - RECE from the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Library - will lead a great program of activities, songs, and stories.
This program is offered free of charge.

Shaker Making at EarlyON!

Our EarlyON families had fun this month getting creative and making their own shakers! Each family began by finding their own stick to use as the handle, then used traditional materials, including rawhide and sinew, to bring their shakers to life.

This hands-on experience gave families an opportunity to explore natural materials, learn about Indigenous cultural traditions, and create something special together. We love finding meaningful ways to learn, create, and connect as a community!

Generations of Joy ❤️

On Friday November 27th from 10:00am - 11:00am our EarlyON families along with Melissa and Heather will be visiting Kelso Villa for a special opportunity to connect with the residents through crafts, activities, and circle time!

Bringing generations together creates meaningful connections, encourages sharing, and allows children and older adults to learn from one another. These visits help children develop empathy, kindness, and respect for others while giving residents the joy of spending time with our youngest generation. Through laughter, stories, and shared experiences, we can build friendships and create special memories that bring joy to everyone involved.

There is something truly special about bringing young and old together, reminding us that we all have something wonderful to share, no matter our age! ❤️

November is almost here!

November brings the Freezing Moon (Baashkaakodin Giizis), and we have another wonderful month of learning, laughter, culture, and connection planned for our children and families!

This month, we have a variety of exciting programs and activities to enjoy, including:

Honouring Our Veterans Playgroup – A special opportunity for children and families to remember and honour those who have served.

Make & Take Activities – Get creative with rock photo holders, banana bread, and fall canvas bags!

Baby Group – Enjoy special activities including Baby and Me Yoga, Owl Footprint Art, and designing your own bib!

Outdoor Playgroup – Bundle up and join us for some fresh air, exploration, and outdoor fun!

Louis Riel Day – November 16th – Join us from 3:00–6:00 PM as we come together to honour and celebrate Métis history, culture, and community!

Toy Exchange – November 26th – Give gently used toys a new home and discover something new for your little ones! Toy drop-off begins November 19th.

Generations of Joy – November 27th – Join us at Kelso Villa as we bring generations together through play, activities, and meaningful connections!

We also have our regular Kindergym, Parent Fitness, Early Learning Playgroups, Cultural Playgroup, and Fun with Food programs throughout the month!

A few reminders:
- Programs highlighted in orange require pre-registration.
- Programs in black are drop-in.
- Our centre will be closed on November 11th for Remembrance Day.

Our Halloween family event is happening on Wednesday, October 26th from 4:00-6:00 pm! Dress up in your costumes and drop in for giggly ghoulish fun!
(*Please note that the haunted house that was previously advertised will NOT be taking place. Instead, we've expanded the time frame of the family-friendly activities.)

🎃🧡 Baby Bum-kins! 🧡🎃

A little paint, some tiny bums, and a whole lot of cuteness!

We had fun turning all of the little ones’ bum prints into the sweetest little pumpkins! These adorable keepsakes are a fun way to celebrate the fall season and capture just how little they are.

The tiniest pumpkins are definitely the cutest ones in the patch!

🎃🥞 Fun with Food! 🥞🎃

Today we made delicious pumpkin pancakes! The kids loved being part of the process, helping with measuring, dumping and mixing all the ingredients together.

Cooking activities are a great way to build early math skills through measuring, practice fine motor skills, develop hand-eye coordination, and encourage listening, following directions and teamwork. They also give children the opportunity to explore new smells, textures and tastes while building confidence and independence.

Learning is always a little more fun when we can get our hands messy and make something yummy together!
