🏡 CBSS Regional Gathering: Ottawa Valley and the Champlain Region

Last month, HelpAge Canada and the The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County brought CBSS organizations from across the Ottawa Valley and beyond together to connect, share ideas, explore collaboration and identify shared priorities at both a regional and national scale.

HelpAge Canada was proud to collaborate with the National Institute on Ageing on a new report highlighting the vital role of Canada’s community-based seniors’ services (CBSS) sector and the opportunity to unleash its full potential.

Most older Canadians want to remain in their own homes and communities as they age. But the community support services needed to make that possible remain fragmented, underfunded and difficult to navigate across much of Canada.

The NIA's new report, It's Time to Unleash the Power of Canada's Community-Based Seniors Services Sector to Better Enable Healthy Ageing and Ageing in the Right Place, examines how thousands of community organizations are helping older adults remain healthy, independent and connected — and what Canada needs to do to strengthen this essential sector.
