Axé WorldFest Axé WorldFest provides Ottawa audiences with rich cultural activities and experiences that primarily showcase World music.

Axé WorldFest is a non-profit that focuses on curating BIPOC artists, Newcomers, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, artists with disabilities, and those who face increased systemic barriers to presenting their work. Concerts, art, and conferences are presented around Ottawa and online.

During our time in NYC… 🗽✨ experiencing a little bit of the Latin American Music Conference

We were lucky enough to be invited by our longtime friend Hector Romero to the Concord Music Publishing party, showcasing the incredibly versatile and talented producer/DJ Trooko, at Flux Studios….a legendary, four-rooms recording and production studio in NYC. 🎶

As soon as we arrived, we bumped into our wonderful friends from Discos Fuentes, Edward Poyo and Andrés Claro — nice to finally meet you, Andrés! ❤️

And then Juana just showed up out of nowhere… and just like that, we had a crew! 😂❤️

Later that evening, we headed to Drom Bar for Sony Music Latin’s showcase and caught an intimate performance by Yendry. What a night! ✨🔥

Music, friends, unexpected encounters and NYC energy… pretty much the perfect combination.

Gracias, amigo lindo, Hector Romero. We ❤️ you! 🫶🏽🎶

From Harlem ➝ Brooklyn ➝ Central Park.

Last weekend was filled with the power of Afro-Latina women🏹from inspiring keynotes, thought-provoking panels, and joyful dance classes to wandering through our favourite neighbourhoods and biking around Central Park.

We wrapped it all up with an unforgettable night at SummerStage and the perfect after-party.

Feeling deeply inspired, recharged, and grateful for the people, conversations, music, and energy that made this weekend so special. ✨🖤🚲🎶

Night 3 of Axé Summerfest with JØY Brandt featuring Assoc. de Mulheres Indígenas Suraras do Tapajós was a thing of beauty. Gentle melodies and the colours and influences of Northeastern Brazil’s rich cultural heritage filled the room along with the energy of movement and song from Brazil’s first carimbó group composed solely of Indigenous women.

Dancefloor trance! ✨Night two of Axé Summerfest was hot, hot, hot with 🔥 from Dystoh and Guiss Guiss Bou Bess. A crowd packed into the National Arts Centre Fourth Stage and it became like a club with a slamming dance floor and big, beautiful collectively effervescent energy. 🙌🏽

It was that perfect summer evening — the kind that makes memories — on the National Arts Centre Wood Terrace where a crowd of hundreds got out of their seats for a performance of music by and from the people of Colombia. 🇨🇴 Presented in partnership with Embajada de Colombia en Canadá | Sección Consular en Ottawa

Lady la Profeta got the crowd hyped with her soulful slam.
Afrosound Oficial blended psychedelia, disco, and cumbia in a tropical vibe that is unmatched.
YEISON LANDERO, one of the leading figures of the cumbia genre worldwide, closed the evening with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.

We are just as excited as you are to see Yeison Landero, Afrosound, and Lady La Profeta on July 16th, the first day of Axé Summer WorldFest! Due to high demand - for this free Wood Terrace performance only - we are offering pre-registration to secure your seat. We recommend registering for one of the limited guaranteed spots - but don’t worry! There will also be first come first serve spots available, so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the sounds of Cumbia.

Co-presented by the Embassy of Colombia in Ottawa.
