We had the opportunity to speak with Peter from Art Battle Ottawa about the role art can play in mental health.

For many, art is more than creative expression. It can be a way to process, reflect, and work through personal experiences.

That perspective is at the heart of The Art of Becoming.
On June 25, we’re bringing this experience to the Ottawa Art Gallery, where local artists will create in real time in support of a community arts initiative in Centretown.

It’s a chance to connect with art in a more meaningful way and be part of something lasting in the community.

June 25, 5 to 9PM
Ottawa Art Gallery
Tickets are $20: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-art-of-becoming-centretown-x-art-battle-tickets-1989010046592?aff=oddtdtcreator&keep_tld=true

Meet Hope, mentor, community builder, and Director of Social Enterprise at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa.

For Hope, giving back has always been personal. Growing up, her family experienced food insecurity, and things like new clothes weren’t always easy to come by. Those experiences shaped the work she does today through Thrive Select Thrift and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa.

From free clothing initiatives to youth mentorship and employment programs, her work is rooted in creating spaces where young people feel safe, supported, and seen.

This year, that work came to life through Fashion for Futures in Centretown. A celebration of creativity, confidence, and community.

But beyond the programs and events, it’s the small moments that matter most. Listening. Supporting. Celebrating wins. Showing her daughter what it means to give back and be part of a community.

WELCOME… to Snider Park.

A new green space is coming to the middle of Centretown - created to reflect the art, culture, creativity, and community that make this neighbourhood what it is.

We built this space because strong communities need places made for people. Places to meet up, work outside, listen to music, grab a coffee, connect with neighbours, or simply spend time downtown without needing somewhere else to be.

Snider Park was designed to feel open, flexible, and alive, with public art, live performances on Centre Stage, community programming, free public WiFi, and space for everyday life to happen naturally.

You’ll also find .coffee inside the park, with .booj and team serving up a little coffee magic from the park café.

And on June 13, we’re officially opening the park to the public with a Grown-Ass Pizza Party & Taco Fest from 5pm-11pm. Ticket link in bio.

The Greek Souvlaki Shack has quietly become one of Centretown’s most beloved local food spots through authentic Greek comfort food, welcoming hospitality, and a genuine connection to the people they serve.

From legendary tzatziki and loaded Greek fries to a celiac-friendly kitchen built from lived experience, this is the kind of place people return to again and again.
