Meet Rob, photographer, photo-based artist, and lover of all things handmade and mechanical. 📷

Whether he’s building a bike from scratch or developing film in the darkroom, Rob likes to understand how things work, learn the process, and make them with his own hands.

That curiosity has shaped his approach to analog photography. He shoots film, works in large formats, and prints by hand, drawn to the texture, tonal range, and slower, more intentional process behind each image.

But for Rob, photography is ultimately about what’s in front of the camera. He’s interested in people, the nuances that make them who they are, and what a photograph can reveal about them.

As analog photography becomes more expensive and harder to access, Rob hopes to see the medium continue to find its place in Ottawa’s arts community.

For the past four months, our spaces transformed Centretown side streets into places to gather, create, move and connect.

and joined just a few of the many free workshops that brought these spaces to life, from Wellness Wednesdays and Drag Makeup to Stitch n’ Bitch, Shake & Pour, Salsa Lessons, Hoop Dancing, Pilates and Singles Mingle.

Plus, a few happy hour drinks from along the way.

A huge thank you to our businesses and community for bringing the programming to life, and to the City of Ottawa for making these spaces possible through the Street Seats Program.

That’s a wrap on Uncommon Spaces for the season. Thanks for spending your summer with us, Centretown. 💛

Meet Honey Hi Boutique, a carefully curated secondhand clothing and styling studio where owner Suzanne Quintal has created a space that’s unapologetically its own.

Think contemporary finds mixed with vintage, Y2K, luxury labels, local makers and reworked pieces, all chosen with one rule in mind: it needs that little something special.

Five years later, Honey Hi has grown into a destination built largely through word of mouth, loyal customers and a community that keeps coming back.

During our 4-hour branded photoshoot with photographer Nicolai Gregory, we captured what happens when you take something you love and share it with your neighbourhood.
Because neighbourhoods aren’t built on transactions. They’re Built on Small Business. ❤️

As part of our Electrical Box Wraps project, we worked with local Canadian abstract artist Dave, also known as DAWD (), to bring new artwork to the streets of Centretown.
