Today is World Habitat Day.

It's a chance to reflect on the importance of safe, affordable housing and the role communities play in making it possible. Across Canada, housing co-operatives continue to provide affordable homes while giving members a voice in how their communities are run.

World Habitat Day is an opportunity to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.

Today is National Seniors Day.

Seniors play an important role in housing co-ops across Canada. Recent research found that more than one-third (34%) of co-op households are led by someone aged 65 or older, highlighting the important contribution seniors make to co-op communities.
