⚠️As Canadians we believe that healthcare is a human right, not a business model. But right now, Canada’s universal healthcare is under threat.

In Alberta, Bill 11 opens the door for American-style private, two-tier healthcare, where profit, not patients, get the priority.

Bill 11 is a direct threat to sexual and reproductive health and rights – universal public healthcare.

When people can access health services like abortion, STI testing or cervical screening without paying out of pocket, they are better prepared to plan their families, lives, and futures.

📢On this Day of Action for Women's Health, we need YOUR VOICE to demand that our federal government protect our universal healthcare.

Together, we can protect and expand the public systems we all rely on. Let's defend our health, our rights, and our future.

📢Healthcare is a human right, not a business model. But right now, Canada’s universal healthcare system is facing a dangerous threat that puts reproductive justice on the line.

The Alberta Government’s Bill 11 opens the door to American-style, private healthcare—where timely access to care depends on what's in your wallet.

👉Why is this a reproductive justice issue? Because true bodily autonomy requires universal access to care. When public systems are defunded and corporate interests take over, vital services like abortion, contraception, STI testing, and cervical screenings become harder to reach. Cost barriers disproportionately harm marginalized communities, chipping away at the foundation of sexual and reproductive health.

When people have free, universal access to healthcare, they can safely plan their families, take control of their futures, and thrive.

But what happens in Alberta won’t stay there... Bill 11 violates the Canada Health Act and sets an alarming precedent for every single province.

We need to send a clear message to our federal representatives: Defend universal healthcare for ALL Canadians.

True reproductive justice isn’t built in a silo—it’s forged through collaboration. 🤝

This week, a powerful coalition of civil society organizations delivered a unified statement to the Honourable Ministers Marc Miller, Rebecca Alty, and Rob Oliphant at the Minister's Forum. Our message was clear: human rights aren't just words, they require action.

Reproductive rights are intertwined with all human rights ❤️. People need stable housing, safe communities, and accessible healthcare to meaningfully exercise their reproductive choices.

By locking arms with partners across movements, we are strengthening the foundation of our rights. Human rights are indivisible, interdependent, and interrelated.

Canada has both the opportunity and the responsibility to chart a progressive path forward. It’s time for meaningful implementation.🌍

All youth should feel supported in school🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 . Unfortunately, anti-queer bullying prevents many students from making friends, developing new skills and realizing their potential. While this may have been a common experience in your high school, it doesn't have to be this way.

As we mark, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia this weekend, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that our education system supports everyone❤️. Through spearheading awareness campaigns, and advocating for policy changes, Action Canada works to ensure that all youth have access to age-appropriate, accurate sex-ed.

This is a key part of weeding out discrimination, and creating supportive environments for all.

There's something more powerful than legal protections... you! ❤️

In Canada, abortion is protected as a medical procedure in our healthcare system. But the thing that bolsters this right is overwhelming public support.

When anti-choice politicians try to restrict access, ordinary Canadians from coast to coast to coast hold the line 🤝. It's supporters like you that defend reproductive rights, and push the line forward as we remove barriers.

While new threats emerge, like misinformation and privatization, we know that the future is bright with you by our side. Thank you for powering our mission to ensure that everyone has full control over their body and future.

📢Good news for abortion rights! B.C. is expanding the scope of practice for midwives to include prescribing medication abortion performing, diagnostic ultrasounds, and providing a full range of contraceptive care.

This is what an equitable, affordable, and effective health system looks like. Through harnessing the specialised training of midwives, residents in B.C. will face fewer barriers associated with cost, geography and wait times.

If B.C. can bridge the gap for rural and marginalized communities through midwifery, there is no reason the rest of Canada should remain a patchwork of access. 👉That's why we're calling on all provinces and territories to follow B.C.'s leadership.

Let's ensure that everyone can access the sexual + reproductive care they need ❤️.

📢Abortion is healthcare. Full stop.

In Canada, abortion is legally protected in our healthcare system, but access is often out of reach. Everyday our Access Line answers calls from people navigating barriers, like those without insurance or those who live hundreds of km from a clinic.

Increasingly, anti-choice groups spread misinformation, while funding cuts exacerbate existing barriers.

But together, we have the power to reject stigma and create a healthcare system that works for all. Let's foster a future where everyone can access timely, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care.

How well are people prepared for pregnancy and parenthood?

Our friends at the iCIPHE Alliance are conducting a 10-15 min survey on pregnancy and parenthood. The findings will help guide governments and health agencies to improve support systems.

Budgets reveal what and who we value 💰. This week's Spring Economic Statement provides a snapshot of our country's direction.

Right now, life in Canada feels increasingly precarious. Families are stretched thin, and young people are anxious about their future. Too many of us are just one rent hike or job loss away from the edge.

True reproductive justice means having the resources to live, work, and raise families with dignity. Yet, this week’s budget fails to deliver the structural affordability measures we need. While AI companies receive massive funding without guardrails, the essentials—like universal childcare and Pharmacare—are pushed aside. By retreating from social programs, the government is not just balancing a budget; it is shifting the burden of economic precarity onto those already stretched to their limits.

👉We cannot measure Canada’s prosperity by economic growth that only serves the wealthy while deepening inequality and harming the planet. This isn’t the social contract we were promised.

Reproductive freedom requires economic security. We must invest in the foundations that allow people to live stable, healthy and dignified lives. It’s time to create a Canada where everyone can succeed.
