IBEW Local 586 is incredibly proud of Bella Cantin and Ethan Morissette who represented us at the Provincial Skills Competition this year. Competing at this level means going head-to-head with some of the most talented apprentices from across the province — a true test of skill, precision, knowledge, and composure under pressure. Just earning the opportunity to compete is an achievement in itself.

A huge congratulations to both competitors for the hard work and dedication they brought to the event, and special recognition to Ethan for an outstanding performance and a 2nd place finish, bringing home the silver medal! 🥈

Showcase Your Skills. Represent Local 586. Compete at the Provincial and National Level.

The IBEW Local 586 Electrical Workers Training Centre is proud to invite apprentices under the age of 30 to compete for the opportunity to represent Local 586 at the 2026 Skills Canada - Ontario Provincial Skills Competition, taking place May 4–6, 2026.

This high-profile competition is a chance to demonstrate your expertise across all areas of the electrical trade, including residential and commercial wiring, conduit installation, and motor controls. It’s an outstanding opportunity to challenge yourself, gain recognition, and take your career to the next level.

Tryouts will be held at the Training Centre, and the successful competitor will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to Toronto to proudly represent IBEW Local 586 at this prestigious provincial event. The winner of this provincial competition will then get to represent Ontario at the Skills Canada / Compétences Canada National Skills Competition.

We have power!!!

Hydro Ottawa connected the new electrical service today, the brickwork is underway and the interior is starting to look like a building again. Soon we will have our building back for our general meetings in the new hall.
