It’s a wrap!

The Electrical Workers Training Centre – IBEW Local 586 has officially completed its first-ever Level 1 apprentice cohort!

For the first time, Local 586 apprentices completed their full nine-week 309A Level 1 apprenticeship training in their own training centre.

This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, where IBEW apprentices can choose to complete their block apprenticeship training in-house, learning from experienced IBEW members in a state-of-the-art training facility rather than at a local college.

Congratulations to all of the apprentices, instructors, and everyone who helped make this achievement possible. Here's to the future of apprenticeship training at Local 586!

IBEW Local 586 is incredibly proud of Bella Cantin and Ethan Morissette who represented us at the Provincial Skills Competition this year. Competing at this level means going head-to-head with some of the most talented apprentices from across the province — a true test of skill, precision, knowledge, and composure under pressure. Just earning the opportunity to compete is an achievement in itself.

A huge congratulations to both competitors for the hard work and dedication they brought to the event, and special recognition to Ethan for an outstanding performance and a 2nd place finish, bringing home the silver medal! 🥈
