Dolly Parton never forgot where she came from.

From growing up in poverty to putting millions of free books in the hands of children, she spent her life giving back.

And with “9 to 5,” she gave voice to generations of working women fighting for fair pay, respect and dignity on the job

An icon, an inspiration, and a champion for human rights.

Rest in power, Dolly. 💛

As Trump escalates the trade war, Canada needs to be just as aggressive about protecting jobs, incomes, and communities here at home.

Today’s EI announcement is a welcome step. But with workers already feeling the pressure, we need to be ready to do more: make EI easier to access, increase how much workers receive, prevent layoffs and make sure public dollars are tied to protecting Canadian jobs.

Canada stood firm against a bad deal. Now let’s bring that same determination to making sure workers don’t pay the price.

OTTAWA — Canada’s unions welcomed today’s extension of Employment Insurance measures for workers affected by U.S. tariffs, while calling on the federal government to do more as the trade war escalates. “Canada was right to walk away from a bad deal. We continue to stand with the government i...

Walking away from a bad deal is the right choice for Canada.

The road ahead will be tough. But we’re all in this together. We must use our leverage to force Trump to back down.

And we must focus on protecting workers and communities impacted by Trump’s trade war.

Building gender equity and equality in Canada requires more than conversation. It requires meaningful partnership with the people and organizations doing this work every day

Earlier this month, the CLC and the Canadian Women's Foundation co-hosted Women and Gender Equality Canada Minister Rechie Valdez and national women’s and gender justice organizations for a Feminist Dialogue.

Unions, feminist and gender justice organizations, and governments all have an important role to play in shaping what comes next.
