A new episode of Choice Chat is now available.

In Episode 9: In Our Own Words, Patrick and Michaela share their abortion story together. With honesty and vulnerability, they reflect on love, timing, grief, support, and the deeply personal process of making the right decision for their lives.

Their story offers a powerful reminder that abortion experiences are complex, human, and deserving of compassion. The episode also features an original song written and performed by Patrick, inspired by their experience and the emotions that accompanied it.

Human rights don’t defend themselves.

In this clip from Being Human, our Vision TV series from the early 2010s, Mary Beaty shares a reminder that feels just as relevant today: rights endure only when people are willing to defend them.

Humanist values don’t just exist in theory.

Join us on June 10 for a conversation with Johanna Schwartz and Nick Papai of Congress Coffee Company, a Calgary-based community hub and live music venue rooted in creativity, openness, and connection.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to create spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged to participate in something larger than themselves.

This conversation is part of our ongoing exploration of what it means to live humanist values in everyday life.

We did it! ✨

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we've reached our goal of 20 monthly donors for the Non-Prophet Movement.

Every monthly gift helps strengthen humanism in Canada by supporting our advocacy, educational programs, community initiatives, events, and outreach efforts. Together, you're helping us build a future guided by reason, compassion, and human dignity.

To everyone who joined the movement: thank you. Your support makes this work possible.

What does ritual look like outside of religion?

Join us for an evening with Megan Sheldon, author of the upcoming book Ritual Without Religion: A Humanist Guide to Creating Secular Ceremonies.

Together, we’ll explore the role that ritual, ceremony, and intentional gathering can play in marking life’s transitions, building community, and creating meaning in secular spaces.

The evening will include a reading and conversation with Megan, opportunities for reflection and discussion, and a virtual ritual welcoming the book into the world.

Before podcasts, livestreams, and social media, we brought humanist conversations to television!

Produced between 2010 and 2014, Being Human was a nine-episode talk show that aired nationally on Vision TV, exploring humanism, ethics, community, and contemporary social issues through discussion and debate.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing the full series one episode at a time, revisiting the conversations that brought a humanist perspective to Canadian television.

The first episode premieres on Sunday at 10AM EST on our YouTube channel!
