Religious freedom and state neutrality do not have to be competing principles.

Our president Martin Frith responds to a recent statement from Military Ordinary of Canada Bishop Scott McCaig criticizing the Canadian Armed Forces’ new policy on spiritual reflections.

He argues that an inclusive approach to official military ceremonies can respect freedom of conscience without limiting the religious lives of CAF members or chaplains.

There was a lot happening in Ottawa in the days leading up to the World Humanist Congress!

On August 6th, participants from Europe and North America gathered for the Inaugural International Military Humanist Chaplaincy Conference.

It was a chance to turn years of international conversations into something more tangible, and these photos capture some of the people who contributed to making the event a success.
