Canada's pathway to the ethical Coton de Tulear

10/21/2026

Waylon been in foster care with Western Coton de Tulear Club members for 4 weeks, and is coming out of his shell and learning how to be comfortable with himself and do dog things. Waylon loves snacks & spending time outdoors.

Waylon is a mature adult Coton de Tulear surrendered by a local breeder. He will be neutered and available for adoption upon his recovery.

Waylon will be looking for a calm, adult home, that has patience for his decompression. He would do well with a calm/adult dog or cat.

Waylon’s applications are managed by: https://pause4change.com/

For questions regarding Waylon, please respond or contact us directly, and they will be addressed by his foster family. For questions regarding the adoption process, please contact Pause4Change.

The Western Coton de Tulear Club exists to build the ethical breeding community by educating and giving accessibility to the average or novice/potential pet owner.

In Canada, canuckdogs.com is a convenient resource for locating and verifying claims that a breeder may make about the structure, temperament, and trainability of their dogs.

On this website, you will find two helpful databases:

🏆Standings
🏅Title Search

By navigating to STANDINGS, selecting “Breeds”, and sorting for “Coton de Tulear”, you will see a list of all of the Coton de Tulear dogs shown in conformation for the selected year.

By navigating to TITLE SEARCH, selecting the “Search by Breed” tab, and selecting Coton de Tulear, you will see a list of all of the titles earned by a dog of the chosen breed, in chronological order.

⭐⭐⭐

Breeders and exhibitors who are active in improving the breed may not appear in the standings and titles *every year*, as smaller programs may only have active dogs on a cyclical basis, or may take a year off to focus on other priorities. But for actively breeding kennels, you will not scroll back more than a couple of years before seeing results both from the breeding stock actively used in their programs, and the puppies that they have bred in past years.

Having results in events is not only for potential show dogs. It is a way to receive & view impartial assessment on the structure of a dog, and receive tangible proof of their claims without "taking their word for it."

Dogs who succeed in dog shows and events have proven to be able to function with their owner as a team in a busy environment. They are proven to be able to travel, and behave safely in a crowd.

Titles may also prove traits specific to obedience, therapy work, endurance, and others that may be important to you as a puppy buyer. The owner of the dog is also proving their commitment to their dog, the future breed, and their balanced lifestyle beyond breeding.
