Last year we were fortunate enough to connect with an amazing surgical team coming from the USA to Vihiga county. We formed a professional relationship with them and have since been working together from afar.

Our CNFA teams see many potential surgical cases in our village primary assessment clinics, but we are not surgeons. The trouble is what do we do with them then?

Thanks to the spectacular work of Team LA who is part of the Operation International program, we now have somewhere to send our patients for life saving, life altering and life changing surgeries.

Operation International Team LA is, like CNFA, is a secular, non-political, humanitarian organization, who offer free medical care to children and adults suffering from the lack of basic health care in poor countries.

We are excited to have the opportunity to support them and ask that you, our CNFA supporters to do so as well.

We are two organizations, operating independantly yet working together for the same goal, to provide life enhancing health care to those who deserve it in a place where it is not easily obtained, our goal to be able to make it more accessible.

We invite you to consider donating to their upcoming surgical mission.

“It takes two flints to make a fire.”
– Louisa May Alcott

✨ This week we had the privilege of meeting the very first families who’ve benefited from our new motorbike ambulance program. Most were moms in labour who are now proudly holding healthy babies—and sharing their stories with us.
As part of the program’s three‑month evaluation, interviews and surveys were carried out by our partners from Georgetown University. A heartfelt thank you to Alexandra Jones (doctoral nursing student) and her mentor, Dr. Debra Kosko, for leading this important work alongside us.
We’re also deeply grateful to the Vihiga County Department of Health for their support and collaboration in making this lifesaving initiative possible.
These motorbike ambulances are already proving to be a game‑changer for maternal and newborn health, and we’re excited to see the impact grow.
