When we say Elmwood is "Rooted in Community" this is what were talking about.

We were incredibly honoured to receive a brand-new playground thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of North Bay but the story didn't end there.

When it came time to build it, amazing community partners from Children's Aid Society of Nipissing & Parry Sound, Stantec and the The City of North Bay CSWB showed up with toolboxes in hand, ready to put in the sweat equity needed to bring this vision to life. What was expected to be a 3-hour project quickly turned into a 7-hour build, complete a few sunburns along the way.

Because of their dedication, children and youth visiting Elmwood now have an incredible new space to climb, explore, and play.

Community isn't just something we talk about at Elmwood, it's something we build together.

A huge thank you to Stephanie and the team from AutoCate for making the trip from Kitchener-Waterloo to North Bay to host two hands-on automotive workshops, one for youth and one for women in our community.

The knowledge, confidence, and practical skills they shared were incredible. From changing a flat tire, to boosting a battery, to understanding what’s happening under the hood, participants left feeling more informed and empowered.

The best part? All 18 participants were completely engaged. Questions were flying, sleeves were rolled up, and there was a genuine excitement to learn. It was amazing to see women supporting women and youth gaining confidence through hands-on experience and introduction to the trades.

A huge thank you to the Ontario Education Championship Team (OECT) for funding this opportunity and helping us bring unique experiences like this to our community.

During CMHA North Bay and District Mental Health Week, youth and families attending programs at Elmwood took part in a simple but powerful gratitude activity.

Participants traced their hands and filled them with things they are grateful for, creating this beautiful Gratitude Wall surrounding the Elmwood logo.

This talented young person taught themself how to play the piano and now graces Elmwood with a new song almost every week.

Creative spaces matter. Through our Imagination Studio, youth have access to a piano, acoustic guitar, computers, art supplies, and a place to explore their passions.

We're looking for a little community support! We currently have a bass guitar but no amp, and we'd also love to add another acoustic guitar for youth to use.

If you have either item collecting dust at home and would like to help inspire the next generation of musicians (or would like to financially support the purhcase of these items), send us a message. 🎸❤️
