We provide food assistance to those living in Newcastle, Orono, Newtonville, Kendal, and Kirby.

We support approximately 100 families per month with non-perishable food items, diapers, formula, and toiletries.

We are incredibly grateful to Discovery Church for their annual summer food drive in support of Clarington East Food Bank.

Thanks to the generosity of their congregation, over 320 lbs of food was collected to help support local families facing food insecurity.

At a time when demand for our services continues to increase and our food supplies are under greater pressure than ever, community support like this makes a real difference. Every donation helps ensure our neighbours have access to the food they need.

🚨 URGENT NEED: CEREAL 🚨

This photo shows all the cereal currently on our shelves.

In an average week, we distribute approximately 30 boxes of cereal to local families. Right now, our supply is running extremely low, and we need your help.

We are looking for any type of cereal— hot or cold, family size or regular size. Every donation makes a difference.

Donations can be dropped off:
📍 In the donation bins at Foodland or No Frills
📍 Directly at the Food Bank on Tuesdays and Thursdays

A simple box of cereal can help ensure that children and families start their day with a nutritious breakfast.

Last month, many of you told us that sharing our most-needed items was helpful, so we’ll be making it a monthly feature.

The most-needed items for June are:

🫘 Red and white kidney beans
🥣 Cereal
🍪 Boxed cookies
🏫 School snacks
🧃 Juice boxes
🍘 Crackers
🥫 Tomato sauce
🍅 Diced tomatoes
🥣 Oatmeal

📍 Donations can be dropped off at our donation bins at No Frills and Foodland, or brought directly to the Clarington East Foodbank during our operating hours.

A big thank you to the Newcastle and District Chamber of Commerce for having us at Sunday’s Home & Lifestyle Show!

We had such a great time connecting with so many wonderful people in our community — whether talking about ways to help, learning more about our Foodbank, or finding help and support when it’s needed most.

Every conversation helps break down the stigma surrounding foodbanks, and we’re grateful to everyone who stopped by to chat with us. ❤️

Deep gratitude to Orono Public Schools, Clarke High School, Pines Senior Public School, whose incredible food drives brought in over 600 lbs of donations for our food bank. At this time of year, when demand is high but donations often slow down, your generosity makes a real and immediate difference.

Thanks to your support, families in our community will have essential items like canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, and even toilet paper, things that are simple, but deeply needed.

Your students, staff, and families showed what compassion in action truly looks like. We cannot thank you enough for stepping up, supporting your neighbours, and reminding us what community is all about. ❤️

A huge thank you to Red Maple Country Market for their generous donation of $700 and over 60 lbs of food to the Clarington East Food Bank! 💚

Thanks to the success of their Spring Market this week, these donations are already helping stock our shelves and support local families in need.

It was a beautiful day for the annual Clarington Compost Giveaway! 🌱

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated food and monetary contributions in support of our neighbours. Because of your incredible generosity, we collected an amazing 300 lbs of food and $210!

We are also incredibly grateful to the team at Clarington Operations Depot 42 for including us again this year and helping make this community event such a success.

Thank you for continuing to show the power of community kindness and support. 💚

Today we celebrated the incredible volunteers who are the heart of the Clarington East Foodbank. ❤️

Everything we accomplish - from implementing a neighbour-centred Choice Model to becoming one of the first food banks in Canada to achieve the Food Banks Canada Standards of Excellence - is only possible because of the amazing people who give their time, compassion, and dedication to our community every single day.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today’s appreciation lunch so special:
- Sweet Sisters' Confections for donating 5 dozen beautiful and delicious cupcakes.
- Danielle Hunter for creating the beautiful centrepieces
- Angels Catering for the wonderful lunch
- Martine Creasor, Homeless Prevention Supervisor - for leading an impactful “Understanding Poverty” workshop
- The amazing ladies from Newcastle United Church who worked behind the scenes to help everything run smoothly

Most importantly - to our volunteers: thank you for showing up, caring deeply, and helping us create a welcoming, dignified, and compassionate space for every neighbour who walks through our doors. You are the reason this organization succeeds, and we are endlessly grateful for each and every one of you. 🙌🏼👏🏻

Today was a beautiful reminder that when a community comes together with kindness, compassion, and purpose, incredible things happen. Our hearts are full. 🤗💕
