We had a wonderful morning visiting our friends at St. Stephen Catholic Secondary School, Bowmanville, Ontario! Their Learning Life Skills class organized numerous fundraisers on our behalf, and we were honored to receive a donation from them today.

Thank you to Luke MacDonald, Chaplain Carm, & Abrianna for giving us a tour, and to Wendy Cormier and the rest of the LLS class for being Champions for Inclusion 💚

Great support for Autistic post secondary students in Durham Region

The Hollylynn Towie Scholarship

Autism Ontario Central East is pleased to offer the Hollylynn Towie Scholarship Fund to autistic students in post-secondary programs. Hollylynn was diagnosed with mild autism and a developmental delay. As a child, Hollylynn struggled with peers in school and in her social life. Hollylynn was never discouraged from going to school or trying to make friends. Holly’s dream was to attend college after she graduated from high school.

This annual award is in recognition of the achievements of students with autism who are enrolling in a post‐secondary education program (e.g., college, university) in Canada. To qualify, a student with autism must currently live within the Durham Region of Ontario (North Durham, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Bowmanville, Clarington, Newcastle).

What is National AccessAbility Week? It's a time to celebrate individuals and organizations that are working towards meaningful change for persons with disabilities.

Autism Home Base exists to alleviate social isolation and build supportive community around Autistic adults and their families.
We partner with Trent University to study the impact of social connectedness.

We offer practicum opportunities and our Lived Experience Autism Perspective (LEAP) training to organizations and first responders. We have a Zen Den available to rent for community events to offer a sensory break to attendees.
