Today, ADRA Canada joins Canadians across the country in reflecting on gratitude. In light of all the suffering currently taking place around the world, we are recognize the privilege of living in a country that is comparatively prosperous.

We also recognize and acknowledge that many people in our own backyard also face struggles and difficulties. ADRA Canada is most grateful for the opportunity to serve communities in Canada and worldwide so all may live as God intended, and for supporters who share our vision for a world shaped by Justice, Compassion, and Love. ADRA continues to work for food security, safety, livelihoods, and more for people everywhere.

At just 18, Vlad was living with the daily terror of war in Ukraine. Even his final exam took place in a bunker.

War and disasters leave wounds we cannot see. The fear of another attack. The grief of losing someone you love. The anguish of leaving your home, with no idea when, or if, you can return.

That’s why psychosocial support is a vital part of many ADRA programs. For Vlad, it meant learning to manage overwhelming anxiety and finding the confidence to imagine a future again.

This World Mental Health Day, help us bring attention to this essential care. People facing the unimaginable need support for their emotional wellbeing as urgently as their physical needs.
