This year, as Aberdeen Health Foundation celebrates 40 years, we're also recognizing another remarkable milestone in local health care - 130 years of service from the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary.
Founded in 1896, before Aberdeen Hospital officially opened its doors, the Auxiliary has helped shape health care in Pictou County as we know it, advocating for the hospital's first maternity ward, funding fire escapes following a devastating hospital fire, and supporting countless advancements in patient care. With more than 4,500 volunteer hours contributed last year alone, Auxiliary members continue a tradition of service that has spanned generations.
