Earlier this evening in Ottawa, reports from the Special Joint Parliamentary Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying (AMAD) were tabled in the House of Commons and the Senate.

Inclusion Canada welcomes the recommendation to amend the Criminal Code to indefinitely exclude persons whose sole underlying medical condition is a mental illness from eligibility for MAiD

We urge the federal government to implement the recommendation without delay. Inclusion Canada believes the committee has reached the right conclusion. Our CEO Krista Carr was one of the witnesses who appeared before the Committee.

Now, Track 2 of MAID must be repealed.

Who remembers this? 😊

This is the first picture that we took for Facebook back in 2017!

It's always fun looking at the great memories we have made together. Do you remember this day?

If you have an old People First photo, we'd love ❤️ to see it!

💙 We can't wait to make more memories.

⚠️ Trigger Warning: This post talks about su***de and disability benefits.

People in Alberta are worried about changes to their disability support program.

Starting July 1, many people will move from the AISH program to a new program called ADAP. Some people may receive less money or have different rules about working.

Many people have shared that they feel scared and uncertain about what these changes will mean for their future. Sadly, one disability advocate reportedly died by su***de after writing about the stress and anxiety he was experiencing.

Everyone deserves dignity, respect, and the support they need to live a safe and healthy life.

💙 If you are struggling, please know you are not alone. Reach out to someone you trust or call 988 if you need immediate mental health support.

As the province’s Alberta Disability Assistance Program comes into effect in July, many in the disability community are anxious and worried.
