Bosley’s North Nanaimo has chosen us as the beneficiary of their month-long fundraiser.

They have set up so many ways that you can help the rescued kittens and cats in our care:

🌟 A tremendous silent auction with amazing items
🌟 The option of donating canned food when you pay for your purchases
🌟 Goodie bags with each kitty’s wishlist
🌟 A donation bin for donated items of food, toys and supplies

And we’ll be in the store for an Adoption Event this Saturday, June 20 with several adoptable kitties, as well as a table of cat beds, toys and other items for purchase.

You can support the fundraiser in-person at the store
OR
by purchasing on-line & designating this branch of Bosley’s (6894 Island Hwy, Nanaimo BC) as your ‘pick up location’, then adding a comment “donation for CatSpan”

Thank mew for your support. 💝

Hali: Adoptable from Foster

This tiny lady is a lovebug, seeking out attention, purring loudly when she receives pets and scratches behind her ears. She loves to be with you, and will sit beside you or even on your lap. When you’re working, Hali loves to sit in front of a computer to “help”. Her “help” includes pulling out the paper when you are printing something.

Hali is as playful as a kitten, loves her toys, especially chasing the toy at the end of a stick. She will play with you for hours. But you will need two sticks because, when she catches the toy she will not let go, so she needs to be distracted with the second wand toy. Sometimes she will hold onto both. She is very fast and you cannot fool her for long.

Hali was in a desperate state when she was rescued with a severe infection of her uterus and starving to the point of anemia. She weighed only 2 kilograms (4.4 lbs).
She has recovered fully and is at a healthy weight now. Because of what she’s been through, Hali has a great deal of “food insecurity” and gobbles up all of her meal as fast as she can. She actually jumps for joy and squeals with delight as her food is delivered to her.

Hali’s foster mom says she is “a real sweetie and easy to love”. She will need some patience as she settles into her forever family home. Once she is comfortable, she will be a wonderful companion, perfect for a single person or a couple in a quiet household. Older children who would play with her gently (especially with the toy on the stick), would likely be okay.

You can see more of Hali, when she first came into our care, on her initial foster mom’s instagram

Please email [email protected] to find out more about happy Hali and to schedule a meeting.

Ripley has been adopted!

His adopter came to meet Ripley in his foster home.
As soon as Ripley saw her, he knew she was “his person” and climbed onto her lap and into her arms.
The feeling was mutual. 💝

Ripley was rescued from the streets in rough condition, not neutered, scratches on his face, an abscess behind his left ear, and testing positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) which is spread cat-to-cat by deep blood-drawing bites, usually when two male cats fight.
Outdoor life can be brutal for unfixed tomcats.

Now, with care and love, Ripley is in excellent health.
He’ll be an indoor-only cat, living a low-stress life with good food and regular vet checks - just like any beloved companion cat receives.

FIV+ cats can live long full lives.

Ripley, and all of us who have cared for him, are so grateful to see him heading to his happily ever after.

Champ: Adoptable at Bosley’s North Nanaimo

Champ really lives to his name — in fact, he’s so committed to being a winner that he treats everyday life like his own personal championship tournament.

Here’s his highlight reel:
Champ is the undisputed Cuddleweight Champion of the World, known for his signature move: the Lap Flop. One second you’re minding your business, the next you’ve been lovingly body-slammed by a bundle of purring determination. Resistance is futile. He will snuggle. You will accept it.

When he’s not perfecting his gold-medal snuggle routine, he’s busy training for the Kitten Comedy Cup, performing high-energy antics, surprise zoomies, and interpretive dance routines that absolutely must mean something. He’s hilarious, he knows it, and he expects applause.

Despite being the “big guy in town” (in his mind, at least), Champ is shockingly polite. He shares food like a gentleman, plays beautifully with the other foster kittens, and carries himself with the confidence of someone who has already prepared his acceptance speech for “Best Boy, 2026.”

This friendly, fearless, outrageously charming kitten would thrive with other cats or as the solo superstar in a home full of adoring humans. Truly, whoever adopts Champ isn’t just getting a pet — they’re taking home the Grand Prize of All Prizes.
And honestly? He’ll expect a trophy.

Precious: Adoptable from Foster

Precious loves treats so much, she’ll turn into the Kool-Aid Man the moment she hears a treat bag being shaken.

This sweet girl may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, her curious nature starts to shine. She loves exploring new places, carefully checking out every corner and hiding spot before deciding it passes inspection.

Precious is also an impressive jumper and enjoys finding high perches where she can keep an eye on everything happening around her. When she’s not on an adventure, you’ll often find her enjoying one of her favourite activities: a good afternoon nap.

One of Precious’s cutest quirks is her love of freshly-dried laundry. Leave a warm pile of towels unattended, and she’ll happily burrow underneath them for a cozy snooze.

Precious is looking for a patient forever family who will give her the time she needs to build confidence and come out of her shell. A calm home with people who understand that trust takes time would be her perfect match.

Please email [email protected] to find out more about Precious and to schedule a meeting.

Please welcome our newest arrivals, born in foster care yesterday afternoon.

We’re feeding Momma high-calorie kitten food, so she can make enough milk to nurse her little ones.
Other kittens in our care are starting to eat solid food.
Another group of kittens is in a growth spurt, eating six cans of kitten food a day, as well as having bottomless bowls of kitten kibbles.

AND we have a number of ‘teenagers’ and adult cats in foster care.

We’re going through a lot of food.
A lot!

We’d appreciate donations and there are several ways you can help:

1. Donation of funds so we can buy food with our rescue discounts
https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/59108
(clickable link in our IG profile & on our website)

2. Drop off OR buy food at:
Bosley’s North Nanaimo (6894 Island Hwy N);
Kitties & Cream (437 Fitzwilliam Street, Nanaimo);
Coastal City Animal Hospital (1849 Dufferin Crescent, Nanaimo)

Kitties & Cream and Bosley’s North Nanaimo can accept on-line purchases as donations for CatSpan when you include “CatSpan Food Donation” as a comment.

Adoption Update:

“Cleo (formerly Chickadee) and Biscuit

“They have settled in nicely

“They are Bffs but Cleo is definitely in charge 🫣

“They came home February 2026”

Mourning Dove came into us as a kitten with ten other siblings and cousins.
Quite the horde of mini-hooligans

Biscuit was rescued from the forest, emaciated to the point of likely trying to eat slugs, which gave him lungworm.
We were able to resolve the lungworm in a medical foster.

These two were introduced to each other in the forever family and are clearly happy together.
