Silver Haven is a family-owned cottage on Clearwater Lake in Muskoka: a beautiful, natural, simple space for individuals, families and small groups to experience rest, peace, nature, prayer, solitude, community, lament, and delight. Our mandate is to provide a space of retreat for everyone, especially those who need such space but cannot afford or access it. The vision is moved and informed by our Christian faith, and our work in making this space is ecologically aware and community-driven. Silver Haven is uniquely equipped to host and support those in grief and crisis, as well as solo retreats and groups of all ages exploring contemplative prayer, nature immersion, and arts. Opportunities abound for support and participation: if you are interesting in donating directly to Silver Haven or to one of our Charity Partners in support of sponsored retreats; if you know someone you'd like to sponsor for a retreat; or if you're keen to join the fun at a volunteer work weekend, please reach out! The Silver Haven 'village' always has room for more.

Fall work weekend THIS weekend at SH! Volunteers warmly welcomed overnight or for a few hours. Donations toward resources, repairs and garden work deeply appreciated! 🔨🏡🪏🌿🧹 As always, a veggie soup will be on the stove all afternoon Saturday and a community campfire on Saturday night 🔥❤️ If you're nearby, come visit or join the campfire, even if you can't stay to help out.

Blessing Gathering 2026 was a sweet time together on (and in!) the lake, celebrating the year that has past, praying for the year ahead, and enjoying the company of each other and of the pines, the asters, the raven and the stars. ❤️

We first highlighted Port Sydney's Backyard Blessings (better known in our family as Monique and Aaron's farm!) back in our 2nd year of Silver Haven, when we were just getting to know them -- and SO excited about everything they offer. Well, we're still pretty excited about them -- one look in the Silver Haven fridge shows that! Beautiful multicoloured eggs (each colour signifies a different hen breed) await SH retreatants, and Monique's goat cheese makes its way into our own family dinner whenever we can get some. This past week we also had the super sweet experience of meeting their new Aussie shepherd puppies. Earlier this summer, Silver Haven hosted a very sweet retreat from Romero House, one of our charity partners. Beautiful moments were shared -- paddling, relaxing, celebrating a birthday -- and space for heartfelt conversation and connection.
