A vision brought to life, right where the story began. 🥍💙
This summer, we launched the inaugural JTF Lacrosse Camp in Alexandra Park, the community where John’s father and uncles grew up and where his family’s connection to lacrosse first began.
In this recap, John and Aryne reflect on what it meant to bring the camp to this special community and share their vision for creating greater access to sport, mentorship and meaningful opportunities for children and youth.
Over three unforgettable days, campers learned the fundamentals of lacrosse, built confidence, formed new friendships and experienced the power of teamwork. This is only the beginning, and we are excited to continue building and growing the camp in the years ahead.
A heartfelt thank you to our community partners Scadding Court Community Centre, AlexandraPark CommunityCentre, and Toronto Community Housing; our incredible coaches Toronto Rock, Brad Kri, Dan Dawson, John’s uncle and lacrosse legend John Tavares, and Adam Gardner; and Impact Kitchen for keeping every camper fuelled with nutritious meals and snacks.
To every volunteer, camp counsellor, supporter, family and community member who contributed their time, energy and care, thank you for helping us create such a meaningful first year.
Most importantly, thank you to our campers for showing up ready to learn, play and have fun. We cannot wait to welcome you back next year!
