Einarson; William ‘Bill’ John David

Passed on March 23, 2026, in his 93rd year at his home in Markdale. Loving husband of the late Ruth Lorraine Einarson (nee. Horton). Loving father of David (Carolyn) Einarson, Nancy Fisher and Mark Einarson (Shondie MacKenzie). Grandfather of Brandon (Lauren), Erica, Grant, Jack, Lindsay, Magnus, Angus and Christian. Great Grandfather of Wyatt. Predeceased by his parents; Frederick and Esther Einarson and his brothers, Jim and Terry.

Bill was born on February 28, 1934, and grew up in the Rosseau area helping his parents who owned and operated the Rosseau General Store. He attended George Brown College, graduating with a culinary degree. His culinary career began at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. He later worked at the Algonquin Hotel, St. Andrews by the Sea in New Brunswick where he met the love of his life, Ruth. The couple married on October 19, 1956 at Forest Hill United Church in Toronto, and were happily married for 65 years. Bill's career as head chef for CP Hotels led him and his family across various locations in Canada, including the Banff Springs Hotel. He later worked for Cara foods in Vancouver and Toronto. Bill and Ruth loved to travel, sharing many fond memories from their adventures in Portugal, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii and many more. They spent many of their winters after retirement in Englewood, Florida surrounded by friends.

After retirement, Bill and Ruth settled in the Markdale area, where they had built their home/hobby farm. Bill was happiest spending time in the garden, or making maple syrup in his sugar shack in the spring, or cutting firewood, or sitting in the gazebo by the pond with friends and family, enjoying the occasional cigar. Bill's sense of humour and infamous story telling will be dearly missed.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Online Condolences and tributes available at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca
